CITY OF CLEVELAND CALLED COUNCIL MEETING 2019 MILLAGE RATE AND TAX DIGEST ADOPTION JULY: 25, 2019 CALLED COUNCIL MEETING Shan Ash at 9:26 a.m. The Called Meeting oft the Mayor and Council oft the City of Cleveland was called to order by Mayor COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Nan Bowen, Annie Sutton, Kevin Stanley, and Bradley Greene. On motion by Bradley Greene, seconded by Annie Sutton, in favor- Nan Bowen and Kevin Stanley and carried unanimously, the Mayor and Council voted to approve the agenda for the Called Council APPROVALOF AGENDA Meeting ofJuly 25, 2019. 2019 MILLAGE RATE AND DIGEST - ADOPTION On motion by Bradley Greene, seconded by Kevin Stanley, in favor Nan Bowen and Annie Sutton, and carried unanimously by the City Council, the following resolution was approved and adopted and authorization was given to Mayor Ash to sign the appropriate documents to submit to the White County Tax Commissioner's Office and the State of Georgia. CITY OF CLEVELAND, GEORGIA AN ORDINANCE TOSET' THE: 2019 MILLAGE RATE: FOR THE CITY OF CLEVELAND, GEORGIA, TOLEVYTHE SAME, ANDTOI ROLLBACK SAID MILLAGE RESOLUTION 2019-07 WHEREAS, pursuant to Georgia Code Section 48-8-80, et seq., aj joint county and municipal sales and use tax WHEREAS, also pursuant to Georgia Code Section 48-8-80 et seq. all revenue realized by White County and the participating municipalities located therein from said sales and use tax shall be applied against the local tax rate structures ins such a way as to reduce the net amounts oft the total ad valorem tax bills in White County; and WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Council ofCleveland held three public hearings for citizen input oft the increase in the millage rate. July 18, 20199:00 a.m..; July 18, 2019 6:00 p.m.; and. July 25, 20199:00 a.m.; and WHEREAS, the City ofCleveland, an incorporated municipality, shall receive a 10.00 mill roll-back for the local WHEREAS, as a result of the roll-back, the millage rate: for the City of Cleveland shall be reduced by 10.00 NOW THEREFORE, UPON MOTION BEING DULY MADE. AND SECONDED, AND CARRIED BEI IT RESOLVED that the City of Cleveland Mayor and City Council hereby sets a net millage rate of 6.00 mills for the 2019 tax year on all taxable property in the incorporated areas oft the City of Cleveland. was instituted in White County, Georgia, and the municipalities located therein; and WHEREAS, the millage rate for the City of Cleveland for 2019 is 6.00; and options sales tax; and mills, leaving ai net millage rate of 6.00 for 2019. Connie Tracas, City Clerk, informed the option to wait three-days is available to the Mayor but the motion was unanimously approved and the millage rate would go into effect ini three days without the Mayor's signature.
