The Carl Junction City Council met in regular session on Tuesday August 08, 2018 at 7:00 PM at City Hall. Steve Lawver recommended approval. Mike Burns asked how the money willl be split. Steve Lawver stated the money will be split between three departments water, waste water, and streets. REVIEW OF KAREN DRIVE LIFTSTATON REMOVALAND WWTP COLLECTION SYSTEM INSTALLED Steve Lawver reported that the city received a preliminary cost estimate of $134,856.00 to remove the Karen Drive lift station and replace it with a gravity line. Steve Lawver stated that this estimate will take it down Terrill Lane. There is no difference between the costs oft the plan with easements and this one, iti isj just at matter ofconvenience. This will get rid of one oft the lift stations and' WWTP does have the fundsi ifthe Council decides to proceed. Council agreed to go outi for bid. ORDINANCES. Steve Lawver had nothing to add. Ladonna Allen asked Steve Lawver about the water meters and what has been found out regarding the system. Steve Lawver stated that he had a meeting this afternoon, Steve Lawver stated that he is digesting thei information currently and requested that a meeting be set with LaDonna Allen as soon as possible to go over thei information. Richard Zaccardelli asked how pickle ball was, going? Steve Lawver stated that it's going great. Public Works - Jimmy Chaligoj stated that the water main on Joplin Street is done. Jimmy Chaligoj currently has bids out for paving and stated that the concrete work still needs to be done. He said that he will be starting the Memorial Park piping project Poliçe Dept. -there was nothing to add. Richard Zaccardelli asked Assistant Chief Mark McCall if they have had any problems with children driving golf carts. Mark McCall stated that they keep a pretty close eye on it. Don Marshall asked if four wheelers are allowed to drive around town. Mark stated four wheelers are not allowed and any driver ofa motorized vehicle has to Mike Burns stated that he himselfp played pickle ball last week and encourages everyone to get out and play. next week. June statements have been reviewed all is ok and nothing is out oft the ordinary. Public Facilities & Planning: LaDonna Allen stated that she needed to schedule a meeting with Steve Lawver regarding the Senior Citizens: Richard Zaccardelli reported that seniors are needing volunteers to deliver meals on wheels. He stated that Mike Talley stated there is a draft ordinance modeled after St Joe's ordinance regarding the use of air rifles, pistols, and firearms inside the city limits. Mike Talley stated it is a draft and there is nothing to vote on this evening. Mark Satterlee stated that he knows the school uses as starter pistol. Don Marshall stated that the subject is covered in the draft. Mark Powers asked if BB guns are included. Mike Talley stated that several exceptions have been added and as many exceptions as we want can be put in. Mark Powers stated that ifthe board has anything they want to add or take away to get with Steve Lawver or himself so they can amend it as Steve Lawver stated that there were a couple of changes in the employee handbook. One stated that we do not pay out on: sick time ift the employee leaves employment from the city. Mike Talley stated he feels this will need the action of the board. Mike Talley Richard Zaccardelli stated that he has noticed a drain pipe dripping a lot of water from the building at 1203 E Pennell. He wanted to know if the AC was on in the building and what the setting was. Steve Lawver stated that it is set at 80 degrees. Don Marshall wanted to know why the sign light & outside lights were on in the evening at 1203 E Pennell. Mike Burns, in regards to the approval of disbursements, noticed that two city employees were hired to clean 1203 EI Pennell. Mike Burns discussed the idea of going after the previous tenants for recoupment of: some of the cleaning costs. He stated that he wants the city to get out of the landlord business. Mike Talley stated that he will review the contract to see ifit would be practical to Steve Lawver stated that we have vacancies on the board of adjustments and board of appeals. The board of adjustments has two openings and the board of appeals has most likely been filled. The current fire chief will be taking over for the previous fire chief Mark Powers wanted to give the board notice that public forum will most likely be addressing the pit bull ordinance at the LaDonna Allen motioned to adjourn the meeting.
