CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS: Mayor Trey King called the May 2, 2024 Council Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and ai roll call oft the members was taken. A quorum was present. He welcomed everyone to the meeting. Councilmembers Present: Mayor Trey King Councilmember Sean Williams Councilmember Daniel Spain Councimember Ann Mitchell Councimember Denis W. Haynes, Jr. City Staff Present: Brittni Nix. City Administrator Courtney Mahady, Administrative Clerk Hayes Taylor, City Planner Alethia Hyman, City Tax Clerk Renee Cooke, Front Desk Clerk Amy White, ChiefMarshal James Ross, City Marshal I. INVOCATION: Dana Stump, Administrative Assistant for Planning & Zoning Pastor Mark Chandler gave an invocation. III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mayor Trey King led the Pledge of Allegiance. IV. GEORGIA CITIES WEEK: 1. "IfI were. Mayor.." Essay Contest Inr recognition of Georgia Cities Week, Mayor King stated that Dacula held multiple activities including coloring pages that are displayed around the Council Chambers and an essay contest for upper elementary students. "1 Mayor King expressed that he and the Council loved reading all the submissions and that they had al hard decision in selecting the winners. Mayor King did a short recap of some oft the essays that were: submitted. He read the winners as followed: 3rd grade: Russell 4th grade: Kinlee 5th grade: Josephine Councilmember Mitchell expressed how excited she was for the participation and that the Mayor and Council had entries to judge. Councilmember Mitchell was happy to see all essay contestants attending The Mayor then selected Russell out oft the three (3) winners to shadow him for an afternoon. the: meeting. V. MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENT/S): Councilmember Williams stated thati it was great to see everyone at the meeting. Councilmember Williams then thanked all the students for theirinvolvement in the essay contest and that he loved reading all their ideas. Councilmember Mitchell thanked everyone again for being at the meeting. City of] Dacula- - Meeting Minutes May 2, 2024- - Page 2of3 Councilmember Haynes, Jr. stated that he enjoyed reading all the essays and was impressed by all the Mayor King spoke about the Earth Day Litter Pickup and the stormwater marker program that happened over the past weekend. For the spring litter pickup, around 42 volunteers from Dacula Middle School helped the Mayor collect trash along Dacula Road. The Dyer Elementary Student Council placed 40 stormwater markers to catch basins in the Summerwind Subdivision for stormwater awareness. ideas from the students. X. PUBLICCOMMENTS: Andra Alabi, 2879 Gala' Trail, Snellville, GA 30039, stated that she is running for Gwinnett County Kim Gallant, 6017 Bagles Rest Trail, Sugar Hill, GA 30518, stated that she is running for the open seat Leroy Ranel, 991 Wisteria View Court, Dacula, GA 30019, stated that he is running for Gwinnett County Councilmember Haynes, Jr. stated that it is important to vote for your local representatives because what District Attorney. for Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge.
