Reverend Tony Davis of Glad Tidings Church of God gave the invocation, which was followed by the pledge of allegiance to the United States Flag. PRESENTATION- COURTNEY RIPOLE-YOUTH SUMMERFEST Bishop Sewell, inj place of Courtney Ripole, appeared before the Commission to present a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition oft the City's efforts towards the Youth Summerfest. DELEGATE- - ROBERT HARRIS - PRAISE TEMPLE COMMUNITY OUTREACH MINISTRIES - YOUTH EVENT - AUGUST 6, 2016- - N.W. PARK FIELD & GYM No show. DELEGATE - MARY HAYES - REQUEST USE OF BERT WOOD PARK ON SUNDAY, APRIL 3RD FROM 10 A.M. TO3P.M. FOR. A BENEFIT RIDE FOR MDA Mary Hayes appeared before the Commission to: request the use of Bert Wood Park on Sunday, April 3rd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for al benefit ride for MDA. Proceeds from the event will go the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Use of the gym is also requested. On motion by Commissioner Tuck, seconded by Commissioner Carter, all voting "Aye" none voting "No" the Commission approved Mary Hayes using Bert Wood Park and the gym on April 3rd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for al benefit ride for MDA. PROCLAMATION. - GCCMA 60TH ANNIVERSARY made and continues to make in Georgia's communities. Chairman Odom read aj proclamation honoring GCCMA's 60th anniversary and encouraged all of our government leaders to recognize GCCMA for the significant impact the organization has REQUEST - JUNIOR SERVICE LEAGUE - USE OF PEEKS PARK FOR THEIR On motion by Commissioner Tuck, seconded by Commissioner Carter, all voting "Aye" none voting "No" the Commission approved the Junior Service League request to use Peeks Park for ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT ON SUNDAY, MARCH 20TH their annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday, March 20th. CITY MANAGERS REPORT Kelvin and I met last week with representatives ofCDM Smith and EPD: regarding the remediation plan for the old Manchester Tank property in the south industrial park. We are attempting to accommodate their corrective action plan while also assuring there is no detrimental effect to city property, Rome Plow property or our wastewater treatment Our GICH committee will attend the mandatory semi-annual retreat in Dublin, Georgia on February 22nd and 23rd. We are continuing to work on aj plan that addresses the issues Ini the February edition of" "Georgia Trend" magazine, on page 361 to be precise, the City ofCedartown has been cited as one oft the "Cities That Mean Business" in Georgia. CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTION AGREEMENT AND ONE TIME EARLY City Manager Fann advised that the agreement has been reviewed by the city attorney and staff. JEAN WHITE TO' THE POSITION LEFT VACANT ONT THE CEDARTOWN TREE COMMISSION A motion was made by Commissioner Tuck, seconded by Commissioner Hubbard, all voting "Aye" none voting "No" to appoint Marsha Jean White to the Cedartown Tree Commission. CONSIDERATION OF ASSISTANT CITY CLERK JOB DESCRIPTION On motion by Commissioner Tuck, seconded by Commissioner Foster, all voting "Aye" none voting "No" the Commission approved the job description of the assistant city clerk position. RETIREMENT INCENTIVE Incentive. CONSIDERATION OF BEER & WINE APPLICATION FORJOSIE SAVANNAH KILGORE- CEDARTOWN CONVENIENCE INC.I LOCATED AT 101 N. MAIN On motion made by Commissioner Foster, seconded by Commissioner Hubbard, all voting "Aye" none voting "No" the Commission approved the beer and wine package license for Josie Savannah Kilgore for Cedartown Convenience Inc. to be located at 101 N. Main Street. STREET RESOLUTION: - MISSOURI MACHINE & PLOW,LLC City Attorney Pilgrim advised that for the City to donate an unused and unopened part ofa City right of way, it willl have tol be treated under the Charter as a street closing. The resolution will begin the process of the transfer. On motion made by Commissioner Hubbard, seconded by Commissioner Carter, all voting "Aye" none voting "No" the Commission approved RESOLUTION 1,2016. The official public hearing on this matter shall be held at the regular meeting of the City Commission on March 14, 2016. COMMISSIONER REPORTS Commissioner Carter stated that the concert held at the auditorium this past weekend was to honor John Thomas, who recently passed away. Great turnout at the Cedartown Commissioner Odom added that Commissioner Carter performed at the concert with the Commissioner Tuck acknowledged the wonderful job that the director, Oscar Guzman, is doing at the auditorium. James Gregory will be at the auditorium in March, and Mickey Commissioner Foster shared that the Follies will be at the end oft the month. The Junior Service League is in charge of the event and there is lots ofl local support for the show. Commissioner Foster stated that he has been watching the news and saw the big issues involving Flint, MI and their water supply. Here in the City of Cedartown, we have different departments that are run right. He's very happy and proud of the people who do their day to day job in the City; thanks the efforts oft the City employees. Commissioner Hubbard stated that there are new business owners downtown, new property owners downtown, and newj permits are being pulled. Commissioner Hubbard and City Manager Fann will be going down to Dublin, Georgia for the GICH conference. Auditorium. gth Regiment Band. Gilley will be performing in April. ADJOURN adjourned.
