The Carl Junction City Council met in regular session on Tuesday October 20, 2023 at 7:00 PM at City Hall. Mayor Mark Powers called the meeting to order with the following present: LaDonna Allen, Rick Flinn, Bill Maguire, Bob McAfee, David Pyle, Roger Spencer, and Hollie LaVigne. Mike] Burns was absent. Also present were City Administrator Steve Lawver, City Attorney Mike Talley, City Clerk Alaina Wright and City Administrator Assistant Crystal Winkfield. AGENDA Roger Spencer motioned to approve the agenda as presented. LaDonna Allen seconded. All in favor. No opposed with one absent. Roger Spencer motioned to approve the consent agenda. David Pyles seconded. Alli in favor. No opposed with one absent. Richard Housley, 29124 Imperial Road, was) present to ask about the possibility ofnew baseball fields. Mayor Powers saidt the city would still like to have them but there are no plans currently. Richard Housley also asked about the future of the swimming pool and Steve Lawver said we are waiting to find out the recommendations from the swimming pool consultant. Richard also asked about PUBLIC FORUM the possibility ofa dog park and LaDonna Allen said the city is currently working on plans fora a dog park. REPORTS October 21. Long-Term Project report- Steve Lawver said Jay Morton would begin the dirt work at Country Club Park on Wednesday LaDonna Allen asked ift there was any update on the foot golf and Stevel Lawver said Mike Burns was working on that. LaDonna Allen asked about Center Creek Park and Steve Lawver said he was working on getting ideas and quotes for that equipment. Public Works report - Mayor Powers saidt the leaf pickup schedule is set and would be available online the next day. Police Dept. report - Hollie LaVigne asked if Detective Castlebury was already in the new patrol vehicle and ChiefMcCall Budget/Finance: LaDonna Allen said there willl be al Budget Committee meeting Wednesday October 21 at 4:15 PM. Economic Development: Hollie LaVigne said there would be an Economic Development Committee meeting Monday October David Pyle said the HR Committee met on October 3 about thel Police Department staffing issue. He asked ifthere was an exit LaDonna Allen asked if there was any answer from Jasper County on the roundabout/stop sign issue at Briarbrook and Fir Road. Stevel Lawver said hei met with. Jasper County Commissioner. Adams who said they are not looking at anything there and are not Hollie LaVigne asked about the quote from Pentair that was on the dais. Steve Lawver said that was regarding the pump issue Steve Lawver said he spoke tol Kenny Wickstrom about closing the Community Center at 9:001 PMI rather than 10;001 PM, and Kenny said there was noi issue with closing at 9:00 because therei is very rarely anyone here after that time. LaDonna Allen askedi ifthat would affect BYAA basketball and Alaina Wright said no, they are only scheduled until 9:00 PM. Hollie LaVigne asked how that would affect room rentals and Steve Lawver said it would just mean we would no longer rent rooms after 9:00 PM.
