Buford City Commission February 9, 2017 Called Meeting 4:30 p.m. Acalled meeting of the Buford City Commission was held on February 9, 2017 and all Commission members were present. Chairman Beard called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Chairman Beard stated that the purpose ofthe meeting was to consider calling an election to consider the issuance of up to Motion by Mr. Burge, second by Mrs. Smith to adopt an Ordinance and Resolution to regulate and provide for the calling of an election to determine the issuance or nonissuance of City of Buford General Obligation Bonds ini the aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $20,000,000 and $10,000,000, respectively, taking into account any premium thereon, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing and equipping additional Buford City School facilities, the addition of classrooms to existing schools, renovation of existing facilities, and technology and preventative maintenance thereto ini furtherance of K-12 education for the City of Buford School District, and other real and personal property in connection therewith, and paying expenses incident thereto; to provide for the date and the maximum interest rate or rates of interest which such bonds shall bear and the schedule of maturities of said bond issue; to provide for the levy and collection of taxes to service said bond issue, if so authorized; and for other related purposes subject tot the Buford City Schools Board of Education authorizing ESPLOST to pay the debt service for1 the bond indebtedness as long any bonds are outstanding (Series 2015 and Series 2018) and subject to the approval of the City Attorney as toi form and $30,000,000 of general obligation bonds for Buford City Schools. content.
