ORDINANCE 2013-08 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TOLAR, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE THAT: IS WRITTEN BY THE INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL, AS THE STANDARD BY WHICH ALL CONSTRUCTION OR INSTALLATION PERFORMED WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS IS. JUDGED; AND ADOPTING THE NCTCOG (NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS) RECOMMENDED AMENDEMENTS TO THE 2012 INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF THE ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT WHEREAS, the City of Tolar has a responsibility to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety in all areas of constructions and manufacture; and WHEREAS, the International Code Council, has established regulations and requirements which have been approved and accepted as a standard by which THEREWITH. municipalities may measure performance and installation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE The 2012 Version of the International Mechanical Code and the recommended amendments by the NCTCOG (North Central Texas Council of Governments) thereto is hereby adopted and referred to as the Official Mechanical Code of the City of Tolar, and itis is made a part of Chapter 3 - Building Regulations of the Code of Ordinances of the CITY OF TOLAR, TEXAS: City of Tolar. A copy of this 2012 International Mechanical and the NCTCOG recommended Should the City Council desire to make any modifications to the 2012 International Mechanical Code, they shall adopt the amendments thereto by ordinance. However, the conspicuous point shall not create al hazard such as (Reason: Greater specificity in prohibited locations for condensate discharge. Consistent with regional dripping over a walking surface or other areas so as to create a nuisance. amendment to IPC314.2.1.) **Section 403.2.1; add an item 5 to read as follows: 5. Toilet rooms within private dwellings that contain only a water closet. lavatory or combination thereof may be ventilated with an approved mechanical recirculating fan or similar device (Reason: Consistent with common regional practice. Consistent with regional amendment to IRC designed to remove odors from the air. R303.3.) **Section 501.2; add an exception to read as follows: 501.2 Exhaust discharge. The air removed by every mechanical exhaust system shall be discharged outdoors at a point where ity will not cause ar nuisance and not less than the distances specified in Section 501.2.1. The air shall be discharged to al location from which it cannot again be readily drawn in bya ventilating system. Air shall not be exhausted into an attic or craw! space. Exceptions: 1. Whole-house ventilation-type attic fans shall be permitted to discharge into the attic space of dwelling units having private attics. 2. Commercial cooking recirculating systems. 3. Toilet room exhaust ducts may terminate in a warehouse or shop area when infiltration of outside airi is present. Ducts and air transfer openings permitted int fire walls in accordance with Section 705.11 of the International Building Code shall be protected with listed fire dampers installed in accordance with their listing.
