Marshall Public Library Board of Trustees Minutes January 4, 2023 1. Call to order by Darlene Dotson, Vice Chair at 4:04pm. Members in attendance were Darlene Dotson, Jerry Hancock, Lacee Lovely Lawson, Jenny Kerr, Anna Lane Library Director, and Steve Flohr as representative of Friends of the Library as well as Gail Johnston, Public Services Librarian. 2. Presentations or remarks from the public: None 3. Election of Officers went as follows: Chair-Darlene Dotson, Vice Chair-Jenny Kerr, secretary-Jerry Hancock. 4. Review and approval of December 7, 2022 minutes. These minutes were approved by a motion to approve from Jenny Kerr and a second by Darlene Dotson. All approved and motion carried. 5. Friends of a Public Library report: Book Sale 2/10-2/18 Sneak Peek available on 2/9 6. Library Director's Report: December stats: In 2022, patrons saved $743.915 by checking out items VS. buying them. Visitors - more than 4,400 Items circulated 3,100 Computer sessions 563; up 100 sessions from November; many applying for food assistance Events: Mission Marshall Items: more than 600 items. Blood drive: December 12th, 13 participants, 10 units ofblood Children's events: Children's programs provided: 14 Children's programs attendance: 292 students, plus a few families. Pop-up storytime at Telegraph Park: Kindergarten classes from Sam Houston- -125 4activities: Story, visit with Santa, made at toy train, decorated cookies Golden Book storytime at Michelson Museum of Art: 22 children attended Tween Tuesdays: 10th is Game Day; 17th is crafternoon (craft in packet) Upcoming events: Jan. 20th: Pop-up storytime at Panola in the mall January 26th: Adult crafternoon (craft inpacket) January 28th: MPL Seed library grand opening flyerinpacket) with guest speaker from Green Thumbs Up Garden Club Programs in Planning Stages: Maverick Manicures Reading challenges: Included in packet 7.
