NOTICE OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF CANTON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (CEDC)  5:30P.M., Tuesday, May 23, 2023 CANTON CITY HALL 201 N. BUFFALO STREET, CANTON, TEXAS  The Board of Directors of the Canton Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) attended a regular meeting at the above-mentioned date and time. CEDC Board members present included: 1st' Vice Chair DeAnne Callan, Thomas Beckham, Justin Richard, John Cheyenne Behrend, John McKeehan, Corley Ragle, ex officio Lonny Cluck and ex officio Lou Ann Everett. Not in attendance was President Kevin L. Deibert. CEDC Staff attending was Executive CEDC Director Stacy Crossley, Assistant Director Shelley Newton and Marketing Coordinator Austin  Melton, Canton Director of Operations Peter Lamont.  Minutes  1. Call to Order and Announce a Quorum - DeAnne Callan opened the meeting at 5:32  pm.  2. Invocation - Given by DeAnne Callen 3. Public Hearing and Consider Adoption of Resolution No. 2023-02 Adopting the Mid- Year Amended Budget for 2022-2023- - Public hearing was opened at 5:34pm with no Comments made and the hearing was closed at 5:35pm. Canton Visitors Bureau and First Monday Marketing Report and Consider Any Action Related Thereto - Austin Melton reported that Facebook and Instagram followers are going up. They are working out issues with Facebook Ad Boosting conformation. 12. Canton Main Street Reports and Consider Any Action Related Thereto - Shelley Newton reported that the historical building plaques are in and ready to go upo on the buildings. Their next focus will be on wayfinding signs. Boho & Arrows is a new boutique moving into the old Nobel Roofing office and they turned in a COA for exterior paint and awnings. There was a good turn out for the Coffee Talk at TradeUp Nutrition and the MOMosa Day was a great success for the businesses that participated. Next event will be Day of the Dad's on June 10th with a morning Car show, Axe throwing competition, and comhole tournament in the afternoon. 13. Executive Director's Report and Consider Any Action Related Thereto - Stacy  wastewater plant is 75% completed.  Getting Balloon Festival booked up.  Crossley  A. CEDC Projects / Partnership Update  Mitchell Kaufman will be moving forward with the purchase of "9" acres and the 13 acres he has contracted on Burnett Trail Earnest money has been given and a survey ordered on the industrial property- ask board to decide on where to take funds to pay. June ANB land owned by CEDC got good news about flood area CAM Glass has survey done = waiting for closing date Looking into sidewalk grant for Capital and museums  Christus Canton Connection -Meeting with ISD and Christus to discuss Career days fort the younger grades (1-8) Mentorship forgrades 9-12 that may include Christus associates speaking in a classroom setting (CTE classes), job shadowing, andi internships Opportunity Fairs fora applicable grades on-site (at the school) mobile triage units deployed from the ECC/ER as a drill to follow an emergency event (school shooting, bus accident, etc.) Shattered Dreams Project events Stop the ideas fori future partnerships with local colleges (TJC, TVCC), graduating seniors with the ability to pass their EMT exam, etc. may be available for  Bleed educational workshops  students during the 2023-2024 school year.
