KIT CARSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MINUTES APRIL 6, 2022 The Kit Carson County Board of County Commissioners meeting began in Work Session at 8:00. AM. Those present were. Dave Hornung, Stan Hitchcock, Cory Wall, Lynsay Cormack, Susan Corliss. In-Person Schedule - Commissioners Board Room 8:00. AM - Work Session 8:30 AM-A Abbey Mullis - Assessor - New Hire Candidate 8:45. AM- Heather Morris- Ambulance Director. New Hire Candidate 9:00. AM-I Liquor License Authority Board See the Liquor License. Authority Board Agenda. Meeting time was changed to 11:20. AM. 10:00 AM - Darlene Carpio - Regional Director for Rep. Ken Buck-1 Updates Eastern Colorado has concerns about local hospitals; Wray is looking at expanding because they don't want to send people west and need: more beds to accommodate. Some of the bills recently have been concerning ending ofTitle 42 and banning of] Russian energy imports. A letter has been sent about Trade Bill with China conditions that have not been kept; this needs to come before Congress to be addressed. No vote on the massive Democrat spending bill. It will be similar to "Eari marks" but is not called that now. Projects or Commissioner Meeting to convene with Pledge of Allegiance Congressman Buck would like to see single item bills. programs specifically funded could be seen as favors. 10:30 AM - Glen Marciniak - VSO - Updates Clinic update was given on the VA area infrastructure study that was conducted during COVID. Any rural clinics that had fewer 900 clients signed up will be presented to Congress for closing. This would impact not only Kit Carson County but regionally. The VA Clinic in Burlington has full time staff Dr. Means and 2 full time RNs. There are 561 Veterans in Kit Carson County but the number the study looked at was who has signed up with the clinic. Ifthe clinic would be closed, there could be services offered through local hospitals. Some concerns were: raised whether the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital The VSO staff has ai turnover rate of 70% which makes it hard but the Regional Officers have been a great addition. Fully Accredited VSO are required to take state courses online, pass a final exam, background check, and fingerprinted, then can have access to the direct submit. Glen will be taking the final test this afternoon. The monthly reports do not track all that the rural VSOs do in addition to submitting claims. During the past 6-8 weeks, hel has been tracking his VSOI hours, which has been about 20 hours per week. 22 A Day is nonprofit for awareness that 22 veterans commit suicide a day nationwide.
