KIT CARSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MINUTES MAY24,2023 The Kit Carson County Board of County Commissioners meeting began in work session at 8:00 AM. Those present were Dave Hornung, Stan Hitchcock, Cory Wall, Susan Corliss, and Theresa Korbelik. In-Person Schedule- - Commissioners Board Room 9:00 AM - Collin Koop Grounds & Buildings 8:00 AM - Work Session Updates on the fairgrounds were given. The speakers are all in and the work will begin completed during the week ofJune 5th. Wagner CATnow) has rentals again; working on getting some light plants and at tractor to pull the stage if possible. There will bej poultry at the fair this year, planning on building bases for larger cages. The bathrooms are sheeted. It will be a busy weekend with Little Britches Rodeo in the arena, the pig show in the Farm Credit of Southern US Engineer Corp was here doing a walk through for the HVAC project. They are from Colorado and only bid jobs that are signed up in the Interlocal Purchasing System. Commissioner Meeting to convene with Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited at 9:27 AM by Dave Hornung, Cory Wall, Stan Hitchcock, Collin Koop, Abbey Mullis, Theresa Korbelik, and Susan Corliss. 9:30 AM - Abbey Mullis - Orange Sheet - New Hire Alexandral Navarro'sorange: sheet was present fort the open position in the. Assessor'soffice. With the increase of assessed values, there have been numerous calls and property visits to possibly appeal the increase in value. The news software allows an easy comparison ofproperties for the land/property owners. 5.A Orange Sheet - Alexandra Navarro - New Hire : Assessor Dave Hornung moved to approve the Assessor Office New Hire Orange Sheet for Alexandra Navarro at $16.11 per hour for Grade 33 and Step 50 with annual wage of $33,500.00 as a Non-Exempt Full Time Employee with Full Benefits effective June 1, 2023, seconded by Stan Hitchcock. They are planning on supporting the Livestock Auction at the fair and would like to host a "Thank a Farmer Day". Donation Request Rescheduled to 1:00 PM. 20230524 Board of County Commissioners Minutes 1Page 11:00 AM- Carousel 1 Wind Farm Turbine Replacement Kelly Alvarez and Chris Haas stopped in to show the road plan to replace one oft the wind turbines in the Carousel I Wind Farm Northeast of Burlington. They will schedule a time with Road & Bridge District 1 Road Boss and Commissioner Stan Hitchcock to drive the route on County Road 54 and County Road BB. 11:00. AM- - JeffCure- - County Attorney The Advance Colorado agreement was reviewed and Jeff Cure agreed to be listed as the County Attorney. The attorney with the truck towing and storage case is continuing the case feeling that Kit Carson County and/or the District Attorney should be responsible for the bills. Aredline copy of the cooperative agreement with the City of Burlington was reviewed by the Board of County Commissioners. The main portion of updating was dates change to stay with the county's current timeline to approve land use requests. The updated version will go to the City of Burlington and their attorney for signing and with the addition of Exhibit A. Other items discussed were the I-70 pavement project from Bethune to the Stateline being put offu until 2024 with some concern of the condition ofl Highway 24, Northwest Kansas Technical College has started their plumbing program again, tiny house requirements in Burlington, Facebook administration issue, and a meeting with the lawyer on concerns with, the longhorns. He will continue monitoring this case. 12:00 PM-Lunch The Board of County Commissioners recessed at 12:00 PM returning at 1:00 PM.
