KIT CARSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MINUTES JULY 12,2023 The Kit Carson County Board of County Commissioners meeting began in work session at 8:00 AM. Those present were Dave Hornung, Stan Hitchcock, Susan Corliss, and Theresa Korbelik. Cory Wall was absent. In-Person Schedule - Commissioners Board Room 8:00 AM-I Pre-Department Head Meeting Commissioner Meeting to convene with Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited during the Department Heads meeting. 8:30 AM- Department Heads Meeting hosted by SheriffTravis Belden 10:00 AM - Valerie Boyd - Department of Public Health & Environment See the Department Heads minutes. See the Board of Public Health Agenda See the Board ofPublic Health Minutes. 10:30 AM - Jacob Graff- Family Heritage Supplemental Insurance Review A short description of the business and how contact is made with the employees of the county. There is not a requirement for anyone to participate. There are over 40 county employees that have this personal insurance. 11:00 AM-Jeff Cure County Attorney 11:00 AM -) Dan Cook, Lane Sharman, Mel Henry & Peg Henry - Solar Stone Dan Cook joined the meeting by phone, Lane Sharman and Mel Henry expressed their concerns ofrate change for Solar Energy that was: made in March. Their application was started in November but has not had a permit issued at this time. The Board ofCounty Commissioners will have a decision on the request at the next meeting. 12:00 PM-Lunch The Board of County Commissioners recessed at 12:05 PM returning at 1:00 PM. Those present for the afternoon session were Dave Hornung, Stan Hitchcock, Brandon Beechley, Theresa Korbelik, and Susan Corliss. 1:00 PM - Brandon Beechley 61 month evaluation The 6-month evaluation was reviewed and updates from the Landfill were given. The pump that was just installed was set to run: incorrectly and ran tool long while it was dry. Itwill be possible to replace the motor for $3,835.1 It was suggested by the company to rebuild the damaged motor and keepi it as a backup. The old Stratton transfer site has aj propane tank that could be used at the Flagler transfer site; he will check with LP Gas about moving it. A quote was presented from King & Son's Seamless Gutter toi install a generator at the Flagler site in the amount of$1,613.00. 20230712 Board of County Commissioners Minutes 1Page 1:30 PM -] Beth Crites - Burlington Chamber of Commerce Aj proposal toj join the Burlington Chamber of Commerce and how it could bel beneficial in for both entities. It would also be beneficial to help each other promote Burlington and Kit Carson County. The Board of County Commissioners agreed to join the Burlington Chamber of Commerce. Beth will check to see if there are Chamber of Commerce members that could help with rodeo admission on Saturday during the fair. 2:00 PM -Jennifer Gribble - Department of Human Services See the Board of Human Services Agenda See the Board of Human Services minutes. 2:30 PM-7 Todd Holmes-I IT- Group Texting Tests were conducted on the cellphones concerning group messages. The Internet connections have been updated at the fairgrounds. Ity will bei important tol keep use ofthe Internet for business only because the sound system runs totally on it. 3:00 PM- Collin Koop - Grounds Fair updates: the sidewalk from Carousel park to the Farm Credit of Southern Colorado Show Pavilion has been completed and the new bathrooms are almost done. A map was shared with thel locations ofthel Ferris Wheel and the bounce houses. Christian Knipp will be scheduled for an appointment next week toj present his bid on the courthouse HVAC project.
