January 09, 2018  The Dale County Commission convened in a regular session Tuesday, January 09, 2018. The following members were present: Mark Blankenship, Chairman; District Three Charles W. Gary; and District Four Chairman Blankenship called the meeting to order at 11:00 am. Commissioner Wilson opened with the  Commissioner Frankie Wilson.  Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner Gary followed with prayer.  APPROVED MINUTES - January 19. 2018 REGULARSESSION  Commissioner Wilson made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 19, 2017 meeting.  Commissioner Gary seconded the motion, all voted aye. Motion carried.  APPROVED - BILLSFORJAIL: - TO BE PAID FROM AD VALOREM Commissioner Gary made a motion to approve payment of the following from the  Jail Ad' Valorem Fund: Fastener Service Fastener Service JMI Electric Supply Co. Inc $750.00 JMI Electric Supply Co. Inc $250.00  $46.25 $846.00  Commissioner Wilson seconded the motion, all voted aye. Motion carried.  APPROVED - JWWOOD AUCTION COMPANY  Commissioner Gary made a motion to authorize, Chairman Mark Blankenship to sign the. JM' Wood Auction Company, Inc agreement to conduct auction of Road & Bridge surplus: Commissioner Wilson seconded the motion, all voted aye. Motion carried.  APPROVED - MEMORANDUM OF WARRANTS  Commissioner Wilson made a motion to approve the memorandum of warrants. (Payroll check number(s) 154440 154440, Payroll direct deposit numbers 26044 26184, and Accounts Payable check numbers 78678-78838). Commissioner Gary seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.  APPROVED = OPIOID LITIGATION  Commissioner Gary made a motion for County Attorney Henry Steagall, II to go forward with the Opioid Litigation against pharmaceutical companies involved in the manufacture and distribution of opioids, and the fee agreement with Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles, P.C. if no recovery is obtained (by settlement or trial), client will not owe a legal fee or expenses. Commissioner Wilson seconded the motion,  all voted aye. Motion carried.  APPROVED = HIRING COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR  Commissioner Wilson made a motion to hire Cheryl Ganey as County Administrator. Mrs. Ganey will work under contract, starting at $75,000.00 per year. Commissioner Gary seconded the motion, all voted aye.  Motion carried.    January 09, 2018  ANNOUNCEMENT - NEXTE REGULARMEETING  Chairman Blankenship announced that the next regular meeting of the Dale County Commission would be  Tuesday January 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.  DENY CLAIMS- - CSX TRANSPORTATION  Commissioner Gary made a motion on the recommendation of Attorney Henry Steagall that Dale County Commission deny the claims to reimburse CSX Transportation for maintenance work on certain railroad crossings in Dale County. Commissioner Wilson seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.  ADJOURNMENT: CONFIRMATORY STATEMENT  Commissioner Wilson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Gary seconded the motion.  All voted aye.
