BO0K027 PAGE612  Barbour County Commission Special Meeting February 22, 2019 9:00 am  SUSIE CVECHKO PRESIDENT, TIMI MCDANIEL COMMISSIONER, JAMIE CARPENTER COMMISSIONER,  SHANA FREY ADMINISTRATOR Sheriff Phil Ferguson, Brett Carpenter  Susie Cvechko called the meeting to order at 9:10 am.  Ron Schoonover provided a cancelled order for a tax distribution check written to the State Auditor's Office in the amount of $2,710.26. The check wasi issued on October 31, 2019 and is presumed lost. Ona motion by Tim McDaniel and seconded by Jamie Carpenter, the cancelled order was approved anda Sheriff Ferguson and Chief Carpenter presented information regarding the purchase ofal Police Service Dogi for the Sheriff's Department. The dog of interest has the ability to track, patrol, apprehend, and narcotic detection. Deputy Gonzales isi interested in handling. The dog will be an asset to the department: and citizens of Barbour County in combatting the drug problem. Ap proposal was received from K9 Working Dogs International LLC1 that includes the Police Service Dog, 120 Hour officer training course, K96 equipment and Patrol Vehicle K9 cage in the amount of $20,763.00. Al K9 Leap grant was awarded reducing the cost to $18,263.60." The cost can be paid in two payments or one lump sum. It was proposed to make an initial payment of $10,000. Discussions were held. On a motion by. Jamie Carpenter and seconded by Tim McDaniel, the purchase of a Police Service Dog and officer training/certification was approved and a check to be written in the amount of $10,000. The The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 am on a motion by Susie Cvechko and unanimously approved.  new check can be issued.  Commission requested to have as signed contract with Deputy Gonzales.
