BOOK 028 PAGE 066 Barbour County Commission Meeting August 31, 2020 11:00 am SUSIE CVECHKO COMMISSION PRESIDENT, TIM MCDANIEL COMMISSIONER, JAMIE CARPENTER COMMISSIONER, CONNIE KAUFMAN COUNTY CLERK, SHANA FREY COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR Kim Lewis, Brett Carpenter, Lauren Norman Susie Cvechko called the meeting to order at 11:00 am and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Due to COVID-19 circumstances, the commission meeting was also held via conference call. On a motion byJ Jamie Carpenter and seconded by Tim McDaniel, August 21, 2020 meeting minutes were approved. Exonerations were approved as presented. Connie Kaufman discussed the Melanie Gordon estate. A motion from Mr. Steve Price's council was made to request the Sheriff to be appointed to this estate. Jamie Carpenter, an application to be field to Courthouse Facilities Improvement Authority for the 18th cycle grant program was approved. This project will be a phase II oft the 17th cycle project toi focus on needed roof repairs. The Barbour County Economic Development Authority requested approval to dedicate $5,000.00 of Coal Bed Methane Severance funds toward a match in a Transportation Awareness Alternatives Grant to construct an improved access trail from Alderson Broaddus University to downtown. The grant application is a resubmission to this program. On a motion by Tim McDaniel and seconded by. Jamie Carpenter, this request was approved. Connie Kaufman presented poll workers as requested from the Republican Executive Committee. Their report was organized by precinct with contact information and have made contact to confirm they are interested in working the polls. The Clerk's office appreciated their organization. The Democratic Executive Committee did not provide a list of workers and requested the County Clerk to make contact with workers from the Primary Election. The Sheriff's conference is coming up in September and the commission recommended speaking with other counties on what software they use and the pros/cons, then request demonstrations) /quotes from other vendors.
