Barbour County Commission Meeting September 18, 2020 8:30 am SUSIE CVECHKO COMMISSION PRESIDENT, TIMI MCDANIEL COMMISSIONER, JAMIE CARPENTER COMMISSIONER (by phone), CONNIE KAUFMAN COUNTY CLERK, SHANA FREY COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR James Sandy Brett Carpenter, Robert W. Talkington, Kim Lewis, Kim Seech, Corey Brandon, Wesley Gray, Susie Cvechko called the meeting to order at 8:30am and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Due to COVID-19 circumstances, the commission meeting was also held via conference call. On a motion by Susie Cvechko and seconded by Tim McDaniel, August 31, 2020 meeting minutes were approved. No exonerations were presented. Onar motion by Tim McDaniel and seconded by Susie Cvechko, six (6) final settlements were approved. JOAN PATRICIA REBROOK, WILLIAM L. WALKER, JESSE ALLEN DUCKWORTH, BRENDA. JOYCE SINE, Sheriff Ferguson requested to become the executor to the Suzanne Stefan estate. He has been the conservator for Ms. Stefan since January of 2015. On a motion by Tim McDaniel and JOHN D. POST, DENNIS NELSON VANGILDER seconded by Susie Cvechko this request was approved. Bids for the Century No. 1 Sewage project were due on September 15. No bids were received. Discussions were held and a special meeting will be called in regards to this project. 1042 Tactical provided a demonstration of Law Enforcement Bullet proof vests. Further discussion will take place with 1042 Tactical and the Sheriff's Department to determine what Create Philippi submitted a grant application requesting $1,500.00 for their "Light Up" the Barbour County Courthouse effort. The project will provide color-changing lighting to the courthouse exterior. The project cost is $2,614.00 and has received $1,100.00 in grants and other donations, to date. On a motion by Tim McDaniel and seconded by Susie Cvechko, Create product best fit their needs, then provide a quote. Philippi's grant application was approved for $1,500.00. Quotes for a GIS vehicle were reviewed and tabled until the next meeting. #259841 September 18, 2020 Page: 2 Corey Brandon submitted a proposal for materials needed for climate control in the COVID-19 PPE storage unit. On a motion by Susie Cvechko and seconded by Tim McDaniel, this was approved and will be paid from the COVID-19 block grant. Equipment for radio programming was discussed and tabled until the next meeting when quotes can be obtained. Discussions were held to allow Adam Bomér to attend upcoming training. Corey Brandon provided an update for COVID-19. As of September 17 and based on Barbour County Health Department records, Barbour County has (7) seven active cases. OEM will be posting daily evening updates on current active cases on the Barbour County OEM/911 Facebook Sheriff Ferguson requested approval to purchase his Administrative Assistant a new computer, paid from the Sheriff Reserve for Capital Projects fund. On a motion by Susie Cvechko and page. seconded by Tim McDaniel, this request was approved up to $1,300.00 The next regular meeting will be held on October 5th at 5:00pm.
