Upgrades have been made to the pavilions, bathrooms and. basketball court. She discussed their playground initiative that wil include a new playset, swing set with handicap swings and benches. The total cost oft the upgrade is $34,777.00. They have received $7,000 in grants and $16,111.99 in community donations. She delivered a County Commission grant application requesting the remaining balance. The application will be reviewed and appear on the March 25th meeting agenda for funding She also updated the Commission on the license plate reader cameras. The City is in the process of upgrading Paul Baker provided an update on Save the Tygart and reported that over 1,000 ton of limestone has been purchased over the last 5 years. He also reported that insects are beginning tol have a presence at Beaver Creek. He is requesting that the County Commission continue supporting their efforts by allocating $3,000.00 to Save Dylan Harper, Barbour 911 Director, reported on the 911 outage with Frontier that affected most of West Virginia over the weekend. His presentation explained how funds are lost to nonlocal business who scrape information provided on local websites. The purpose of the local online portal is to help local businesses profit from their online presence, rather than someone else. The portal would allow businesses and agencies to know who is accessing their public information, local people would be employed to monitor and manage ads and ultimately the portal would be able to put local funds back toi the local community. There would be no cost to be a member of the portal and funds generated from ad revenue is expected to payf for the cost of the portal.
