There are currently 28 dogs at the county animal shelter. He had an adoption event at the Blue & Gray Reunion and adopted at total of sixteen dogs. Special thanks to Old Goat Kettle Corn who paid the adoption fees and signed one dog up for one year of dog food from Chewy. The Belington Volunteer Fire Department has met all requirements for their USDA project to purchase a side by side for emergency response. During the process, the USDA grant coverage changed from 35% to 75%. On a motion by Jamie Carpenter, seconded by. Jamie Carpenter, seconded by David Strait, the bid from Bill Andrews General Contracting and the Harley Knotts submitted a proposal to renovate the Livestock Show barn by removing the balcony area. Barbour County Livestock Association consulted and confirmed with a general contractor that removing this area would not interfere with the structure integrity of the barn. This renovation would extend the show ring considerably and could open additional event possibilities that will be discussed further with the commission. Jedd Schola made a motion to allow the Barbour County Livestock Association to remove the balcony area of the livestock barn, Jedd Schola made a motion to submit the VOCA grant application in the amount of $41,170.00; David Strait seconded.
