Jedd Schola, her resignation was accepted.3/0 The Commission presented the 2023 Emergency and Crisis Management Exemplary Community Award to Arch Resources-Leer South Mining Complex; Larry Gore and Tom Freeman accepted the award. Through this award, the Barbour County Commission is recognizing the work being done in Barbour County to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and disasters. Their progressive planning, emergency preparedness exercises and implementation of mock drills with community collaboration is making way for their emergency plans to be flawless and effective. The County Commission thanked them for their commitment to our community and creatinga Mr. Gore and Mr. Freeman elaborated on their preparedness exercises and employment stats. They also shared that Governor Justice recently declared the mine operation the safest mine in the state of West Virginia. Employees have completed 302 days without injury; they have high hopes to continue the trend and be the first mine of Arch Resources to receive a Presidential Safety Award. From the 911 Fund, Motorola radio head and decals from Bigfoot Designs ini the amount Jody Carpenter, Barbour Extension Service requested the consent to hire Rebecka Knotts for the Administrative Assistance position. Jamie Carpenter, seconded by Jedd Schola made a motion to purchase a Lifetime Adventure Castle play set from BSN Sports for the Galloway Community in the amount of $2,549.99 from the Coal Severance fund; seconded by David Jamie Carpenter acknowledged SCARS- Dylan Oliveto and Patrick Clark to provide an informational presentation regarding Barbour County Ambulance services. They worked closely with Barbour 911 to capture raw data from 911 CAD records. The data revealed call volumes, demand times and transport volumes. The data reflected a decline in transport volumes; however, it was noted the decline wasn't from the of lack need, but rather lack of staffing to fulfill the need. They also provided ac cost analysis that was based on average transport assumptions as well as a sample staffing model.
