The County Commission recognized Barbour County First Responders and appreciation was given by each commissioner on a job well done during recent challenging times and for always making the Through the EMS Salary Enhancement fund, counties received funding for Crisis Response. Dylan Oliveto organized a presentation by First Responder Coaching and Battalion 1 Consulting to discuss services that could assist with the development ofa Crisis Response team. Further discussion to be The WVI Legislature passed al bill for a County Fire Protection fund and provided the funds to County Commissions to distribute to local fire departments. The three fire departments opted for an even split of these funds totaling $8,683.18 each. The County Commission honored the request and funds Commissioner Schola reported that the Commission allocates $10,000 to each Fire Department and Emergency Squad ini the budget each year. Since the Commission is acquiring the Emergency Squads, their $10,000 allocation, along with an additional $10,000, will be allocated to the Fire The Commission also presented each department with a Milwaukee Cordless Fan to assist with Phil Hart requested help from the County Commission by communicating with the Legislature, County Commission Association, Association of Counties and' WVCORP regarding Workers Compensation claims for volunteer fire departments and advocate for a change on code section 23- 5-1a to allow volunteer departments to have the ability to appeal decisions. BECKNER, SCARS presented a revision to the Public Safety Management contract to collaboratively act as the Administrator of EMS Services within Barbour County and report directly to the Barbour County Ambulance Authority and the Barbour County Commission. The fee for services is $2,500 per month. On a motion by. Jamie Carpenter, seconded by David Strait, the contract revision to cover Dylan Oliveto provided updates on Ambulance vehicle statuses. The chase vehicle that was previously approved was no longer available from the dealer and will continue looking. Onar motion by Jamie Carpenter, seconded by David Strait, two (2) Kenwood radios were approved int the amount of $5,758.74 from Discount Communications and Electronics. Dylan Harper testeda a Kenwood radio throughout the county to ensure stable reception was available. 3/0 Aq quote for five (5) secure monitor mounts was presented and approved in the amount of $6,575.00 The graphic wrap was tabled to reconsider the amount of graphic and type to help keep costs down. Jedd Schola. 3/0 Corey Brandon reported prepping for: severe weather that is forecasted. Commissioner Schola recognized the good work of OEM/911 with the mobile command center at Grant Schola and Taylor Skidmore gave a FBLA presentation. Of 31 FBLA members, 16 students placed for Nationals and 15 will be attending the competition. They discussed the cost of travel and registration expenses. They thanked the commission for their support last year and requested consideration again this year. On a motion by Jamie Carpenter, second by David Strait, $3,000 was approved to cover registration fees. Jedd Schola recused himself from voting. 2/0 Ed Larry, representing Philippi Main Street / Barbour County Historical Museum, described the Lurch Fest event and how the one-day event has quickly grown. They plan to partner with MTI Studios to create three small business marketing/promotional videos; one focused on Philippi, one focused on Belington and. Junior and one with a countywide focus. Jedd Schola, approval was given to open a 9-month CD at People's Bank for the Circuit Court Reserve fund totaling $43,833.65. The purpose of these funds is Ona a motion by David Strait, seconded by. Jamie Carpenter, fund number 036 is assigned toi the 911 Bill Renzelli requested clarity on the duties of the Park and Recreation Board. Following a lengthy discussion, the Commission stressed their desire to continue with the Park and Recreation board and their input and presence is valued. The Commission requested some time to evaluate the Event Coordinator position and determine roles and responsibilities in conjunction with each other. Jedd Schola to approve the quote from Designer Concrete & Curbing for the application of epoxy flooring on the John Lloyd Entertainment Stage in the amount of $10,680.00 payable from the general and coal severance fund. Commissioner Schola confirmed the flooring would be colored black with a slick resistant surfacing. 3/0 The floor was open for public comment in order of the meeting sign-up sheet.
