Work Session Water Board Building Fayette, Alabama November 21, 2017 Fayette Water Works Board. The City Council of the City of Fayette held a work session at 5:00 o'clock, p.m. on November 21, 2017, at the Water Works Board Building. This was in conjunction with the regular meeting of the Upon roll call the following were found to be present: Mayor Ray Nelson, Councilmembers Eddy Campbell, Cedric Wilson and Jerry Nichols. Also present were members of the Water Works Board: Mary Sparks, Bobby Mills, Bobbi Jo Kemp Driver, Matt Collins, Stella Wallace and General Manager Daniel Brasher. City Attorney Dale Lawrence and Fire Chief Tony Ellis were present. Councilmembers Lindal McCraw and. Jason Cowart were absent. Mayor Nelson announced: a quorum was present and that the meeting was open for the transaction Mayor Nelson thanked the Water Board for their commitment to the Fayette Aquatic Center. City Auditor Rick McCabe spoke to the Water Board concerning the City's budget. He stated the 2018 budget has an unrestricted surplus of $70,000.00. Mr. McCabe said the City had three major projects for this year. Hes stated the City tries to operate within its current year revenues without having to Mayor Nelson said the City in addition to its grant. projects had budgeted $320,000.00 for other capital projects. He stated the City had asked the Gas Board to contribute to the purchase ofa new Fire Chief Tony Ellis statedt the Fire Department had a 1982 pumper truck, a 1989 laddert truck, a 1997 pumper truck and a 2000 pumper truck. He stated the 2000 pumper truck is currently in the shop for repairs. Chief Ellis said the truck the City wanted to purchase could be tailored tor meet the City's needs. The new fire truck would allow the 1982 pumper tol bet taken out ofs service. Chief Elis explained it takes aboute eleven months to receive the fire truck once itis ordered. The Water Board currently bills the City for assisting with sewer collection at a rate of $2,200.00 per month for an annual total of $26,400.00 and $1,092.00 per month for firel hydrant service and repair. Councilmember Nichols asked the Water Board to consider any relief they could give on these Mr. Daniel Brasher, General Manager of the Water Board, stated during the next twenty-four months the Water Board will be doing projects that will cost up to $2,000,000.00.
