City Hall Fayette, Alabama February 27, 2018 A regular meeting oft the City Council of the City of Fayette met at 5:00 o'clock, p.m. on February Upon roll call the following were found to be present: Mayor Ray Nelson, Councilmembers Eddy Campbell, Jason Cowart, Cedric Wilson and Jerry Nichols. Also present were City Clerk Dawn Clapp, City Engineer Dewayne Roby and City Attorney Dale Lawrence. Councilmember Linda McCraw was 27,2018, in the Council Chambers oft the City Hall. absent. The opening prayer was given by Mr. Bobby Avant. Mayor Ray Nelson announced a quorum was present and the meeting was open. for the Councilmember Cowart moved the minutes of the regular meeting held on February 13,2018, be approved. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember Campbell, the same was unanimously transaction ofbusiness. APPROVAL OF MINUTES approved. DONATIONS TO SCHOOLS The Council presented Fayette County High School, Fayette Middle School and Fayette Elementary School with checks in the amount of $5,000.00 each. Dr. Jeremy Madden (FCHS), Mr. Rodney Hannah (FMS) and Dr. Alicial Nalls (FES) accepted the donations on behalf oft their schools. Mr. Rodney Hannah thanked thel Mayor and Council for investing in education. He said a portion ofhis funds would got toward school safety. Dr. Alicial Nalls thanked the Mayor and Council for the money and stated the funds would go toward helping the students. Dr. Jeremy Madden thanked the Mayor and Council for ther money. He said ity would be used for ACT Prep and the Advanced: Placement Program. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Fayette Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Danny White was presented with a check pursuant to the contract between the City and Chamber of Commerce. The City contracts with the Chamber toj promote tourism and industry for the City. FIDDLEFEST Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Danny White informed the Council about the upcoming Fayette Fiddle Fest to be held on May 11" and May 12th. He stated this year it will be held in downtown Fayette instead of at the Civic Center. Mr. White asked for the City to contract with the Chamber of Commerce to promote tourism for the event in the amount of $3,000.00. After a general discussion, Councilmember Cowart moved the City contract with the Chamber of Commerce toj promote tourism for the City in the amount of $3,000.00. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember Nichols, the same was unanimously: approved. PARADE: PERMIT Mayor Nelson presented to the Council a request for aj permit for the Fayette Medical Center 5K run to be held on March 10, 2018. Councilmember Wilson moved the permit be granted. Upon the motion beings seconded by Councilmember Nichols, the same was unanimously approved. PARADEI PERMIT Mayor Nelson presented tot the Council a request for a permit for a community outreach program for the public to meet candidates on April 7,2 2018, on the old runway at Guthrie Smith Park.
