Upon the motion being Mayor Nelson reported Municipal Judge Steven Nolen had requested the court time be changed from 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. After a general discussion, Councilmember Campbell moved the Municipal Court time be changed from 5:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember seconded by Councilmember McCraw, the same was unanimously adopted. MUNICIPAL COURTTIME CHANGE McCraw, the same was unanimously approved. SHOWA BESTGLOVE INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT Mayor Nelson reported Governor Kay Ivey had notified the City that the City/SHOWA Best Glove Project had been awarded a $500,000.00 grant. The grant will assist in the expansion and modernization of the Showa Best Glove facility by providing funds for water, sewer and drainage relocation and improvements. The final award of the funds is subject to the City meeting the terms and conditions contained in thel Letter of Conditional Commitment. PAVINGI PROJECTUPDATE Mr. Luke Porter reported thel Notice for Bids ont the resurfacing of gth Avenue and 25th Street NW would be advertised beginning August 28, 2019 and the bids would be opened on September 13, 2019. He said once the bid is awarded, paving should begin in late October or early November. ATREIORANIPROIECT- EXPANDI INTERSECTION AT2ND AVENUE Mayor Nelson reported ont the. ATRIP II Grant Project. He stated ifthe project is awarded, there will be no match required from the City. The Council decided at its last meeting to apply for a grant for The Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II (ATRIP-II) Committee was created as part oft the Rebuild Alabama Act (RAA) of2019. The State is wanting cities and counties to submit plans for improving the state highways. This is for projects the cities or counties ANDCOLIMBUSSIREET the intersection ofHighway 18 and Highway 171. want the State toj perform to address issues ont the state highways.
