City Hall Fayette, Alabama December 10, 2019 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayette met at 5:00 o'clock, p.m. on Upon roll call the following were found to be present: Mayor Ray Nelson, Councilmembers Linda McCraw, Eddy Campbell, and Cedric Wilson. Also present were City Clerk Dawn Clapp, City Attorney Dale Lawrence, Police Chief Danny Jenkins and Fire Chief Shannon Taylor. Councilmembers December 10, 2019, int the Council Chambers oft the City Hall. Jason Cowart and. Jerry Nichols were absent. The opening prayer was given by Dr. John Killian. Mayor Ray Nelson announced a quorum was present and the meeting was open for the transaction of business. GUESTS APPEARING BEFORECOUNCIL 1. FORMER U.S. SENATOR. JEFF SESSIONS Former U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions spoke to the Council concerning the country's need for Alabama values. He stated he was from a small town and appreciated small towns and the values and benefits they have. Mayor) Nelsont thanked Mr. Sessions for the help he had provided Fayette in the past. Councilmember Campbell moved the minutes oft the regular meeting held on November 26, 2019, be approved. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember McCraw, it was unanimously APPROVALOEMINUTES approved. PARADEI PERMIT Mayor Nelson presented a request for Parade Permit for the Fayette Block Party sponsored byt the ARC of Fayette, Lamar and Marengo Counties, Inc. tol be held on May 2, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. After a general discussion, Councilmember Wilson moved the Council grant the Parade Permit. Upon the motion' being seconded by Councilmember Campbell, the same was unanimously approved. FIRE DEPARTMENTI REPORT Fire Chief Shannon Taylor presented the fire report for the month of November 2019. The Fire Mayor Nelson stated the next Council meeting would be held on Friday, December 20, 2019, at Police Chief Danny Jenkins presented the police report for the month of November 2019. The report was asf follows: 55i incidents investigated; 29 accidents; 129 traffic citations; and 51 arrests. Police Chief Jenkins stated the Police Department had received a grant from the Fayette Department received 23 calls. COUNCILMEETING 10:30a.m. att thel Fayette Civic Center. POLICE DEPARTMENTI REPORT Community Foundation tou upgrade their body cameras. PROJECTUPDATES Mr. Luke! Porter updated the Council ont the following projects: 25h Street and g" Avenue Paving] Project: He stated the paving should start the end of December. Industrial Park Pumping Station and Sewer Line Repair Project: He reported this project is Martin Luther King Drive and 104h Avenue Paving Project: He stated the City has made application for a grant to assist with the paving project and should learn in. January ifit will be expected tos start the first part of. January. awarded a grant. STRIPINGOF: STREETS Mayor Nelson presented the bid that was received for street striping from WB Builders, LLC for Councilmember McCraw moved the Municipal Court financial statement be approved. Upon the Councilmember McCraw moved the Park & Recreation financial statement be approved. Upon Councilmember McCraw moved the City's financial statement be approved. Upon the motion City Clerk Dawn Clapp reported for the month of November, the City received $216,754.00 in non-designated sales tax and the Vaf sales tax for the hospital generated $36,127.00 for a combined total their review.
