City Hall Fayette, Alabama September 1,2 2020  As special meeting of the City Council oft the City of Fayette, Alabama, was held at 12:00 o'clock, Upon roll call the following were found to be present: Mayor Ray Nelson, Council members Linda McCraw, Eddy Campbell, Jason Cowart, Cedric Wilson and. Jerry Nichols. Also present was City Clerk Dawn Clapp, City Attorney Dale Lawrence, Fire Chief Shannon Taylor and Police Chief Danny  p.m. on September 1,2020, pursuant toad call oft the Mayor.  Jenkins. business.  The opening prayer was given by Police Chief Danny. Jenkins.  The Mayor announced a quorum was present and the meeting was open for the transaction of The Council canvassed the election returns for the City Election held on August 25, 2020, and the result of the election is as set out inl Resolution 2020-08. That Rod Northam received a majority of the votes cast for the Office of Mayor and is hereby declared duly elected tot the office for the term beginning ont the first Monday, November, 2020. That no candidate received a majority of the votes cast for the Office of Councilman, Ward No. 1 and that Virettia L. Whiteside and Steve Herring received the most and second most votes cast for that office, therefore a run-off election between said candidates is hereby ordered to be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, pursuant to the provision of Section 11-46-55, Code of Alabama, 1975, as last amended, and the Mayor is hereby authorized, directed and empowered to give notice of such run-off election int the form provided by law, including the persons authorized to vote therein, the place of voting andt the same election officers who held the first election shall hold the run-off election. Upon the motion, being The Clerk was directed toi issue a Certificate of Election tol Rod Northam tot the Office of! Mayor; tol Eddy Campbell to the Office of Councilmember, Ward No. 2; to Tommy Williams to the Office of Councilmember, Ward No. 3; to Aliska Hughes-Monroe tot the Office of Councilmember, Ward) No. 4; to Jerry Nichols to the Office of Councilmember, Ward No. 5; and, that the same be made a part of the  seconded by Councilmember Nichols, the same was unanimously adopted  minutes oft this meeting.  ESTABLISHMENT OF SECURITY FOR COST OF RECOUNT  Mayor Nelson informed the Council they needed to establish an amount to bej posted for security int the event someone petitions fora a recount oft the returns. Aftera a general discussion, Councilmember    Cowart moved that anyone petitioning for a recount under the provisions of Alabama Code Section 11- 46-55.1 must post security in the amount of $150.00 to cover the cost and expenses oft the recount. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember Nichols, the same was unanimously adopted.  ADIOURNMENT  There being no further business to come before the Council, upon the motion to adjourn being made by Councilmember Cowart, and seconded by Councilmember Nichols, the same was unanimously  adopted.
