City Hall Fayette, Alabama September 8, 2020 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayette met at 5:00 o'clock, p.m. on Upon roll call the following were found to be present: Mayor Ray Nelson, Councilmembers Linda McCraw, Eddy Campbell, Jason Cowart, Cedric Wilson and. Also present were City Clerk Dawn Clapp, City Attorney Dale Lawrence, Police Chief Danny Jenkins, Fire Chief Shannon Taylor, Street Superintendent Marty Weeks and Wastewater Superintendent John Dill. September 8, 2020, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. The opening prayer was given by Mr. Luke Porter. Mayor Ray Nelson announced a quorum was present and the meeting was open for the Councilmember Cowart moved the minutes of the meetings held on August 10, 2020, August 11, 2020, August 24, 2020, and September 1, 2020, be approved. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Police Chief Danny Jenkins presented the police report for the month of August 2020. The Fire Fire Chief Taylor stated the owner of the property located at 19th Street NW had been contacted was as follows: 31 incidents investigated; 17 accidents; 671 traffic citations; and 58 arrests. WASTEWATER DUMPSITE Mayor Nelson reported the manhole for wastewater dumping is located near the airport behind the old LB's. Street Superintendent Marty Weeks said this manhole was chosen because it was on City Wastewater Superintendent John Dill stated the manhole for wastewater dumping needed to be as far away from the wastewater plant as possible. Councilmember Cowart moved the Council nominate Mr. Jimmy Ayres and Mr. Larry Humber for the Fayette County Board of Equalization. Upon the motion City Clerk Dawn Clapp reported for the month of August, the City received $253,728.00 in non- designated sales tax and the Yap sales tax for the hospital generated $40,690.00 for a combined total of $294,418.00. She statedt the City received $17,724.00 in sales tax from online sales. She stated the City Luther King Drive was tos stripe the street.
