City Hall Fayette, Alabama September 22, 2020 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Fayette met at 5:00 o'clock, p.m. on Upon roll call the following were found to be present: Mayor Ray Nelson, Councilmembers Lindal McCraw, Eddy Campbell, Jason Cowart, Cedric Wilson and. Jerry Nichols. Also present were City September 22, 2020, int the Council Chambers oft the City Hall. Clerk Dawn Clapp, City Attorney Dale Lawrence, and Sergeant Mark Allison. The opening prayer was given by Councilmember Jerry Nichols. Mayor Ray Nelson announced a quorum was present and the meeting was open for the Councilmember Wilson moved the minutes of the meeting held on September 8, 2020, be approved. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember Nichols, ity was unanimously approved. Councilmember Nichols moved the Council go into executive session for the purpose of discussing pending litigation. The City Attorney stated this exception was applicable to the planned discussion. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember Campbell, it was unanimously approved. Councilmember Cowart moved the Council come out of executive session. Upon the motion Councilmember Campbell, Chairman oft thel Budget Committee, stated the committee is draftinga Mayor Nelson reported Mr. Ron Hannah, principal of Fayette Middle School, had complained that nearby residents are parking their vehicles on the school side of the street. Councilmember Eddy Campbell suggested the City designate some more "school only" parking spaces on the East side of the street and make the remaining area no parking. Councilmember Nichols stated the residents should have the right to park along the street also. Councilmember Cowart suggested having the principal and transaction ofb business. APPROVALOFI MINUTES EXECUTIVESESSION being seconded by Councilmember Nichols, the same was unanimously approved. BUDGET COMMITTEE REPORT proposed budget for the Council to consider. FAYETTEMIDDLE: SCHOOL PARKING residents come tot the Council meeting to discuss the matter. PARADE PERMIT Mayor Nelson presented to the Council a request for parade permit for the FCHS Homecoming Parade to be held on October 2, 2020. Councilmember Cowart moved the permit be granted. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember Nichols, the same was unanimously approved. PROPOSEDHOLIDAY CALENDAR 2020-2021 Mayor Nelson presented the proposed City Holiday Calendar. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember McCraw, the same was unanimously approved. Councilmember Cowart moved the City's financial statement be approved. Upon the motion Councilmember Nichols moved the Municipal Court financial statement be approved. Upon the Councilmember McCraw moved the Park & Recreation financial statement be approved. Upon Councilmember Campbell reported the new firetruck had been paid for and the City was just Councilmember Cowart stated fall sports have started. He reported there were three toy bowl teams and two soccer teams. REPORTOF COUNCILMEMBER NICHOLS Councilmember Nichols statedl he had received requests from citizens asking that speed bumps be placed on certain streets. Mayor Nelson said a traffic study would have to be done. He also said the residents should come to a Council meeting and express support for the speed bumps. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, upon the motion to adjourn being made by Councilmember Wilson and seconded by Councilmember Nichols, it was unanimously approved.
