COVID-I9UPDATE Mayor Northam reported on the update he received from Fayette Medical Center Administrator Donald Jones concerning Covid-19. The update isa as follows: 1,494 confirmed cases in Fayette County 26 confirmed deaths in Fayette County 27% positivity rate over the last 14 days 199 casesi int thel last 14 days Fayette Medical Center received 100 doses of the vaccine on. January 6, 2021, and received 100 booster doses for those waiting on the 2nd shot. FMCI has now received 100 additional doses. The Fayette County Health Department will havea a vaccine clinic every Friday in February from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Health Department'ss goal is tol havea a drive thru for the vaccine. For 2020, thel Fayette Long" Term Care Center had 15 COVID cases and four deaths. For. January, 2021, the Fayette Long Term Care Center has had 32 COVID cases and two deaths. FMCI has been averaging seven in-patient COVID patients for the last few weeks. COVIDLEAVE POLICY Mayor Northam presented the proposed COVID Leave Policy to the Council for their "Effective January 1, 2021, up to 801 hours of paid sick leave at the employee's regular rate will be granted when the employee is unable to work due to a positive COVID-19 test. This benefit will only apply when the employee tests positive and does not apply when family members test positive. The employee must have a negative test after 7 days of quarantine to be off 10 days following the positive test tor return to work. This policy will be monitored for effectiveness over the upcoming weeks and months and adjustments could be made. Ift the City and County decide to do this, the plan is tos seek the assistance oft the Department of Transportation with the project. The cost for paving 251h Street NE is estimated to be $500,000.00. PURCHASE/LEASE: OF CITY SHOP PROPERTY Mayor Northam reported the family who leases a portion of the City Shop property to the City was interested in either selling the property or renegotiating the lease but they want the City to make the first offer. NEW BUSINESS Mayor Northam announced three new businesses have opened in Fayette. The businesses are Mayor Northam reported on the City'sf financial condition.
