June 8, Upon roll call the following were found to be present: Mayor Rod Northam, Councilmembers Virettia L. Whiteside, Eddy Campbell, Tommy Williams and. Jerry Nichols. Also present were City Clerk Dawn Clapp, Police Chief Danny Jenkins, Fire Chief Shannon Taylor and City Attorney Dale Lawrence. 2021, in the Council Chambers oft the City Hall. Councilmember Aliska Hughes-Monroe was absent. Thec opening prayer was given by Mr. Mark Brown. Thel Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilmember Tommy Williams. Mayor Rod Northam announced a quorum was present and the meeting was open for the Councilmember Whiteside moved the minutes of the regular meeting held on May 25, 2021, be approved. Upon the motion being seconded by Councilmember Williams, it was unanimously approved. Congressman Mo Brooks spoke to the Council and complimented the Council on the City's appearance. He spoke to the Council on some of the challenges our country faces. He said the United States was the greatest country on earth. He stated moral values and liberties are some of our country's greatest assets. The report was as follows: 28 incidents investigated; 11 accidents; 164 traffic citations; 95 traffic warnings and 30 Chief Jenkins reported ont the traffic study on! McConnell Chapel road. She is requesting her property be Williams and' Whiteside. PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING rezoned from M-1 toR-4. Upon City Clerk Dawn Clapp reported for the month of May, the City received $277,533.25 in non- designated sales tax and the Vaf sales tax for the hospital generated $44,413.59 for a combined total of $321,941.24. She reported the City received $12,400.00 in alcohol taxes. She reported the City received being seconded by Councilmember Campbell, the same was unanimously approved.
