She thanked the Parks Department for their work on the McCullough River Trail. The trail's ribbon cutting took place Saturday. She thanked Cal Trans for the Clean CA grant that made it possible. She has received many calls from concerned citizens asking what is going to happen tot thel Redwood and palm trees on SR99 oncei it gets widened. Those trees willl be removed but CalTrans has secured property on the side of the highway where they will plant 15 Redwood trees and 15 palm trees with a welli fori irrigation to makes sure theys stay alive. This will continue tos show the divide between Northern: and Southern California. Mayor Pro Tem Gallegos stated that the reconstruction of the Avenuè 12 offramp willl be completed int the Spring of 2025. The design on Yosemite Avenue will be complete in December with construction to start in the Councilmember Rodriguezs stated there are: some highways safetyi improvement grants that may bea available tot the City. MCTC: staff willo contact City stafft to seei ifa any would be available tot the CityofMadera. He attended the Juneteenth celebration at Courthouse Park along with Mayor Garcia, Councilmember Villegas and Councilmember Evans. Councilmember Rodriguez attended the military information event that Congressman Duarte's staff coordinated. He stated that staff should see if Congressman Duarte or other senator could assist the City in getting that type ofe eventi in Madera. He reminded everyone oft the 4th of. Julye event andi invited everyone to attend. The City of Madera contributed $5,000 to the event and he thanked the Councilmember Evans thanked everyone who attended the Juneteenth event. She thanked Tyler and' Wendy from the Tribune newspaper. She stated. Juneteenth Dayi is af federal holiday and asked her colleagues to agree to have it on a future agenda to discuss making it a City of Madera holiday. A number of people from other cities attended because they had the day off. Mayor Garcia received four thumbs up (majority) who agreed to have this item on the agenda Councilmember Mejia stated she was excited for the District 5 youth Recreation Fee Waiver which willl help children in District! 5to participate in sports. She shared information about this topic on her Councimember page and encouraged everyone in District 5 to participate in a Councilmember Villegas indicated that he's had many inquiries on the Gateway/Olive to Knox construction.
