Councilman Howell gave invocation. Upon the call ofroll, the following were found to be present: Mayor Nelson Councilman R. Walker Councilman K. Walker Councilman Ivy Councilman Moss Councilman Howell City clerk was present. absent Minutes from the council meeting held. April 26, 2012 were presented. Councilman Ivy made a motion to accept the minutes from the previous meeting. Councilman Howell seconded, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. CITIZENS ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL No business RESOLUTIONS, ORDINANCES OTHER BUSINESS Councilman Howell seconded, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. Councilman K. Walker made a motion to accept the 99: year lease for the Gunnison Creek Park from Mayor invited all council to the 50" Anniversary on June 3: for Creola First Baptist Church. Mayor states that Commissioner Ludgood is trying to obtain a grant for the Gunnison Creek Park walking, biking, and nature type trail. Kim willl be working with the county to get information together to County for $1.00 a year. proceed with the application process. The council will bel kept updated. Councilman K. Walker made a motion to accept the resolution for the County to apply for grant for the nature trails at Crenshaw Park at Gunnison Creek. Councilman R. Walker seconded, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. Mayor states that there will be a Public hearing on May 23 at 6pm, at the Senior Center for the purpose of citizen's comments for the walking trials. PLANNING COMMITTEE Mrs. Leanne Green states that there is a meeting on 5/15 and the committee request that all council be present. Mrs. Green asked ifa a cross bar with Ward lane could be put on Johnson and Ward. Some of the emergency vehicles are not aware that ward lane is even there. Council states that they will check with Bobby to see ifthe city has a sign or needs to order one. ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS PARKS AND RECREATION No business Councilman Howell states that the street department is working on getting insulation down form the pavilion. UTILITIES AND SENIOR CITIZENS Mayor states that a public hearing for Garbage service to be mandatory for citizens will be held Thursday, May 24 at the work shop at the council meeting. Councilman Ivy made a motion to accept the financial report. Councilman Howell second, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. Councilman Howell made ai motion to pay bills as presented except to hold the ALDOT bill. Councilman K. Walker seconded, all favored none opposed, motion carried FINANCE Council stated tol hold bill for ALDOT. POLICE AND FIRE Councilman Ivy made a motion to promote Officer Gary Davis to a Police Sargent. Councilman Howell second, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. No business for fire department. STREETS Councilman R. Walker states they will wait on auction to purchase a tractor. Councilman K. Walker states that asphalt on edge of roads is needed on Hall branch, Hardy Drive and Dead lake Marina rd. ADDITIONAL NOTES whoever owns trucks. building office. Councilman Howell states he found a piece of scrap steel on road. Councilman K Walker state that the trucks are still running through the city, need to have chief talk to Mr. Chestang or Councilman R. Mr. Tim Ryals asked ift the trees can be trimmed back at the stop sign on Lister dairy road and Councilman K. Walker asked about the audit the Mr. Anthony is doing. Mayor states it should be 5/24/12.
