Upon the call ofroll, the following were: found tol bej present: Mayor Nelson Councilman R. Walker Councilman K. Walker Councilman Ivy Councilman Moss Councilman Howell City clerk was present. Minutes from the council meeting held May 10, 2012 were presented. Meeting for May 24, 2012 was not held due to lack of quorum. Councilman Ivy made a motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting held. Councilman Moss seconded, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. CITIZENSADDRESSING THE COUNCIL Mr. Tim Ryals states that at Hardy and Dead Lake Rd there is a blind spot and you have to pull upi too: fari to look for traffic. Councilman Ivy made a motion to give. Judge. Jay Ross $150.00 a month raise. Councilman Howell second, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. Councilman K. Walker suggested giving the judge a $300.00 ai month raise. Councilman R. Walker second, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. Councilman Howell made a motion to hire Mr. David. Zimmerman forj prosecuting attorney for court on Mayor states that Mr. Zimmerman is recommended by the. Judge, ChiefTaylor the officers and the clerks. probationary terms. RESOLUTIONS, ORDINANCES OTHER BUSINESS Councilman K. Walker asked what council felt about the deer processing company on Highway 43. Council states they are disappointed on the structure and how the owner handled his business in getting proper approval. PLANNING COMMITTEE Mayor states that council has been invited to the planning committee meeting on Tuesday. (6/19/12) ZONING BOARD OFADJUSIMENIS PARKS AND RECREATION No business Mayor states that they are still having tournaments for fundraising. UTILITIES AND SENIOR CITIZENS Mayor states that Councilman Moss has been active in the senior building by getting the ice Councilman K. Walker asked that a monthly court report to be brought to meetings. Mayor Councilman Ivy asked where was the money from the purchase oft the weed eater coming out of. states to just add it to the monthly report. The Mayor states it will come out of the street funds. POLICE AND FIRE Councilman Ivy states that the Fire department building has leak. Councilman K. Walker states Councilman K. Walker, Councilman Ivy and Mr. Moss will check into options for repairing the to go get 10 gallons of cool seal toj put on it. leaks. STREETS Mayor states that a dangerous spot at the end ofHardy and Dead lake Rd: for traffic. Mayor states he will speak with Mrs. Lewis about the azaleas, if she is not in agreement then another option will have to be put in place. Councilman Howell states he has had a lot of positive feedback about the stop sign on Lister Council states that if Mrs. Lewis is not in agreement to cut azaleas down then the council states Councilman Howell states he would pave Brown and Oak tree and then resurface others in the Councilman Moss states Holmes and Brown because they have the most houses on them. Councilman K. Walker states that Holmes need drainage before paving. Mayor states to do what you can and then try to do the remaining streets on the bond issue. Councilman K. Walker states Brown Rd is one of the oldest roads. He is aware he can't vote on Councilman R. Walker states he does not want toj pave any road without good drainage. Mayor and council have a general discussion about the paving of streets and drainage. Mayor and council state that Lister Lane has a drainage issue and Hall Rd has been eliminated. Mayor states second options is Brown Rd, Oak tree lane and resurface others for the amount of Dairy Rd and Old Hwy 43. toj possible make it a 3 way stop. Mayor asked council which streets to put on Pay as you go. city. Councilman Ivy states Holmes Rd and Brown Rd. itl because his brother lives on it but he can speak his peace. Mayor states that one option is Holmes Rd by itself. $250,000. Council Polled: Councilman Howell Councilman Moss Councilman Ivy Councilman K. Walker Councilman R. Walker Mayor states option three will be to look into bond issues at a later meeting. option 2 option 2 option 2 Brown, Oak tree and Rio Honda Brown, Oak tree and Rio Honda Councilman made a motion for Paving of Brown Rd, Oak Tree Lane and resurfacing of Rio Honda. Councilman second, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. ADDITIONAL NOTES Mayor and council have a discussion about purchasing a tractor and back hoe. Councilman R. Walker states that the primary need of the city is a tractor and backhoe. Mayor and Councilman K. Walker are going to the state auction on 6/16/12. Councilman Ivy made a motion to spend no more than $30,000 to purchase a tractor, backhoe and lor bush hog thru state auction sale for the weekend of6/16/12. Councilman Moss second, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. Councilman K. Walker states that he would like to put our part time Street department worker into a full time employee position. Mayor states they need to look at the finances and bring it back to next meeting. Councilman K. Walker made aj motion to give the part time street department worker a $1.00 an hour raise. Motion: not seconded. Mayor states to bring it back to the next meeting. or department for ai raise and not all others. Councilman Ivy states hei is a temporary employee and it is not legal to single out once employee Councilman R. Walker states there is a truck still parking in the church parking lot. Councilman R. Walker states they have a sign up that states No thru trucks. Councilman K. Walker states that trustees need more: food. Mayor states he has talked to the trustees and they say they are fine.
