Mayor asked that the Moss family bel kept inj prayer and had special prayer in his honor. Upon the call ofroll, the following were found to be present: Mayor Nelson Councilwoman Greene Councilman Heathcoe Councilman Ivy Councilman Howell City Clerk was present Mayor and Councilwoman Green presented Gavin White and Layla Knight with A and B honor roll students with a certificate from the city. Minutes from the council meeting held on April 25, 2013 were presented. Councilman Ivy made ai motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting held. Councilman Howell seconded, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. CITIZENSADDRESSINGTHE COUNCIL No business No business RESOLUTIONS, ORDINANCES OTHER BUSINESS PLANNING COMMITTEE Mayor states that he will meet with investors from Georgia for Exit 19 on May 20, 2013. Mayor will let council know the time at a later date. *The next planning meeting will be 5/21/13 ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS PARKS AND RECREATION No business Councilman Howell states he met with North a fence company at the park, should have a quote for fence at the park by next council meeting. UTILITIES AND SENIOR CITIZEN Mayor asked Councilman Heathcoe to check out the broken glass at the senior building. Councilman Heathcoe states that the report has been hung in the building. Mrs. Venus Davis gave an update on the community development group. Mrs. Davis states that the following businesses have given donations to the group. Dana Suttles, Herring Plumbing, Overstreet trucking, Delta Plumbing, Coastal A/C heat, Axis machine welding. FINANCE Next meeting POLICE AND FIRE pistols and the cost is $375.00. Councilman Ivy states that the police department request approval to upgrade the department Councilman Ivy made. ai motion to buy parts to upgrade pistols Councilwoman Greene second, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. Fire Chief Jeff Reeves states that the annual air quality check for the fire departments air compressor is due for the amount of $1143.00 Councilman Ivy made motion to pay $1143.00 to have the air checked. Councilman Howell second the motion, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. ChiefJerry Taylor states that the next community watch meeting will be 5/16/13 at 6pm. Chief Jerry Taylor states that Officer Shawn Wood, along with Mobile County Street Enforcement Narcotics team, received the Chief's award for their performance in 2012 STREETS grass cut. Councilman Heathcoe states that the Street department has been busy getting pot holes filled and Mayor asked Councilman Heathcoe to talk to business about putting concrete in to fill holes. ADDITIONAL NOTES Councilwoman Green states that the community development group will have a yard sale at the The building Inspector Don Moss states he will get some estimates for drainage on Ellison Ave park June 1 and will be selling hot dogs and drinks. and also checking some drainage in Bradley Acres. Mayor states he called Walton Construction and they will be here Monday. Mayor states he talked to Dr. Rubinstein and Dr. Vickers about meeting with the Saraland schools. We have no date as ofnow but will send out flyers in mail as soon as a date is set. A citizen asked if the council was for or against the annexation. Mayor states he can't speak for the other council member but His thoughts are he has been in Creola for almost 60 years and he wants to do what the citizens want to do. Mayor, council and citizens discuss the school issue again. Mayor announces vacancy on council due to Councilman Moss going home. Adjournment Councilman Ivy made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
