ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL Council will allow citizens to address the council after all regular business is taken care of. Councilman Howell states that he would like to use this money to put benches around the park Mrs. Casie Bennet asked ifs signs could be put up at the park for no driving behind the baseball field and soccer fields because all the kids are playing in this area. Councilman Howell states that you can't put signs up because that is parking spaces in the back. Councilman Heathcoe states that Criswell drive should be paved by next week and Guthrie Lane is paved. Street department has been busy cutting grass. Mrs. Davis states that the Creola community Development group is hosting a free outside movie night at the park on July 13 at 7:30pm. Everyone invited. Concession stand will be open. We owe it to ourselves to see what kind of negotiating can be done. Councilman Heathcoe states that is why they need a city attorney to be guided on these issues. Mrs. Lois asked how long it would take if we annexed. Ms. Kaitlin Wright who is a Citronelle high school student who just finished her freshman year states she has not encountered a single problem with students not liking Creola kids. She states she thoroughly enjoyed the school. The bus ride was about 45 minutes and she done homework Mrs. Casie Bennet states that at the Saraland meeting the Mayor of Saraland stated that we would be grandfathered in on the water and sewer but then in the paper states that everyone would have the same rules. Councilman Howell states that Creola has a franchise with Integra Water for 30 plus years and can't undo that. Mrs. Bennet asked could Saraland purchase Integra Water contract. Will the citizens know the negotiation and what would be grandfathered be presented to the citizens before a votc takes place? Councilman Howell slales yes. Mr. Crisswell is a 67 year citizen of Creola and he thinks everyone should settle down and look real close at Saraland, Satsuma and Mobile county school systems issue at hand, let the council Mr. Loden states to get a voters list and if on that list if there is not a 5v% plus one to vote for annexing then it should be a dead issue and the city would not have to spend money on attorneys Mrs. Bryan states that she thinks that the vote would come from the list of people who voted in Councilman Howell states that they do not need to vote on anything until they have heard some Mrs. Joan Stringfellow asked if anyone has considered the seniors, they cannot afford to hook up and read. Mr. Fisher states he is not ready to throw this town away because of school issue. If we had as much support from everyone to make this city better than trying to throw it away, what could we accomplish? Mr. Fisher states that that this council was elected to run thi: city not another city. Councilwoman Greene states that a petition has not been brought to this council. She is not for annexing personally. Councilwoman Greene states that this council should bring it to the floor. Mr. Loden states that at the last meeting there was a petition here but because of all the discussion they decided to hold the petition and asked tol hear out Mobile county school. So there Councilman Howell states there is a petition and this petition can supersede whatever council decides to vote. Councilman Howell states that we can sit and do nothing and let the petition move forward or we can investigate and see what each city can present. Councilman Howell states that they are: not moving forward until attorney is hired. Councilman Ivy wants to see some things that are good for this town.
