The Mayor presented A, A-B and perfect attendance certificates to the children by the Council of Creola. Minutes from the council meeting held on, January 9, 2014 were presented. Councilman Howell made a motion to accept the: minutes from the last meeting. Councilwoman Moss seconded, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. CITIZENS ADDRESSINGTHE COUNCIL No Business RESOLUTIONS, ORDINANCES OTHER BUSINESS Mayor states that Attorney Johnny Lane will get a Leash Law ordinance drafted and bring back at the next meeting to present to council. PLANNING COMMITTEE maps and updates. CM1.24.14 Councilwoman Greene states that at the last meeting there was no business but they spoke about Page 1 ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS PARKS AND RECREATION No business Councilman Howell states that it coming up on ball season again. Mayor states that they are dealing with the county and the environmental group about Crenshaw Park and got preliminary plans for pier, walking trails and kayak launch for the park that are at City Hall if you want to look at. Councilwoman Moss states they are checking with the insurance company to see if there is a deductible Councilwoman Moss made a motion to purchase paint for the senior building, and the chief said the Councilman Howell states that Sherman Williams has paint 25% offa gallon till the end of the month. Councilman Howell asked if Mrs. Frieda had funds at the senior building that could help as well. Councilwoman Moss stated the senior building had a little that it could help with. Councilwoman Moss states that Bobby would wash the table and chairs down with a pressure washer when it gets warmer. Councilwoman moss states that they are getting quotes for carpet cleaning and floor waxing. FINANCE Councilwoman Green states that the finances were presented at the last meeting. Councilwoman Green spoke on replacing the sign that says city hall, fire dept., police department and city works. The best quote was from Signs Know for a 4X6 6 Aluminum panel, Councilwoman Green made a motion for the city council to consider purchasing the public writing on both sides for $680.00. works sign for $680.00 pending a drawing for final approval. COMMUNITY GROUP Councilwoman Greene states that something new for the group would be to honor the veterans the weekend before Memorial Day. Councilwoman Greene states that Mrs. Casie Bennet would like to start a trash pick-up day on February 1 and then every 1St Saturday of each month having a pickup day starting at 8a.m. Mrs. Bennet states that if you can't walk then you can make donations or pick up the trash bags on the side ofthe road if you would still like to help. Councilwoman Green states that the next meeting for the group is February 11, and the group would like to recognize the business and citizen oft the year 2013. POLICE AND FIRE Councilwoman Green states that she spoke with Chief Reeves by phone and he said that there is asensor on the brush truck that needs to be checked into and would like to take it and get a quote. Police department has no business. CM 1.24.14 Page 2 STREETS Councilman Heathcoe states that Mr. Bobby has been sick and he is back trying to get everything caught up. Councilman Heathcoe told Mrs. Casie that he appreciates her, Leanne and the kids picking up trash. Councilman Heathcoe stats that they are going to start fixing pot holes. Mayor states that the bidding for the striping project was run in the paper sO around the first week in February they should open the bids and awards the bid on the project. ADDITIONAL NOTES Mrs. Walker asked what was going to do about the tree. Mayor states that the city cannot put money on private property. Mayor states that there is a sign to go up by the tree. Mayor states that he will talk to the owners and see if something can be done. The sign states that it is the Mrs. Casie Bennet asked what kind of fence is needed. Councilwoman Green asked Councilman Howell about advance disposal. Councilman Howell states that the franchise renewal has not be renewed it will be up in April 2015 he thinks. Mrs. Casie Bennet asked if it can be rebid out and bring in recycling bins for paper and plastic. Councilman Howell states that if you have a problem to call them. Councilman Howell states that you can't have trash and garbage out for long periods; you are supposed to put it out the weekend oft the Monday they are picking up. (1"and 3rd Monday oft the month) Councilman Howell states that if you put anything with Freon in it you have to have a sticker or tagged stating that it has been discharged properly or they will not pick it up, they will also not pick up computers, electronics, TV's, or tires.
