Councilman Hadaway gave the Invocation. Pledge of Allegiance Councilwoman Greene Councilman Martin Councilman Walker Councilwoman Moss Councilman Hadaway Mayor Criswell City Attorney -Mr. Danny Mims City Clerk-Carolyn Sue Cain ABSENT Upon the call of roll, the following were found tol be present w/ exception of City Clerk. Councilwomàn Moss made a motion to accept the minutes of 12/14/17 with corrections on page 4 to remove Brother. John White's name. Councilman Walker seconded, all favored, none opposed, motion carried. CITIZENS ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL Mayor Criswell asked for the list of citizens to address the Council. 1- Barney Marsh, candidate for Circuit Court. Judge - Introduced himself. He thanked the council for having him and encouraged everyone to vote and to educate themselves regarding the upcoming election. I 2- Ledora Knight, a local citizen, spoke regarding questions of the former city hall on Dead Lake Rd. and what were the intentions for the use of the building. Mayor Criswell explained that he discussed all of her issues during the State of the City Address. Ms. Knight was absent fromi the State of the Address meeting. She questioned the council on many different issues. She requested to see actual numbers regarding the finances of the City and Councilwoman Greene will e-mail her a copy of our revenues (the actual figures shown at the State of the City Address) and will be happy to make an appointment and meet with her anytime to discuss the finances of the City. RESOLUTIONS, ORDINANCES AND OTHER BUSINESS Mayor Criswell announced that Congressman Bradley Byrne willl be at Creola City Hall on' Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4:00- -5 5:00PM for a Town Hall Meeting. Mayor Criswell invited all to attend. PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEE Councilwoman Greene announced that the next planning commission meeting will be Tuesday, January 16, 2018 6PM. Public Hearing to follow regarding subdividing of land for Larry and Linda Young. PARKS AND RECREATION Councilwoman Moss mentioned that the tables for the park are in and willl be put together very soon. We will ask for estimates for signs to be placed to recognize Crenshaw Park. We will bring back to next meeting to discuss and possible vote. UTILITIES AND SENIOR CITIZENS Councilwoman Moss reported that everything is good with the SAIL Center. ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS No Business 2 FINANCE Councilwoman Greene gave thet financial report, giving a copy to the Council. Sullivan's Insulation installed the roll-up door to the fire department. Chief Reeves reported that he will receive money that was donated and begin necessary work on Engine #5. STREETS Mayor Criswell reported that Wayne Miller and crew has been cleaning culverts and Mayor Criswell stated that we are waiting approval from MCPB to interview candidates been moving debris and mowing ditches. tos supervise our Public Works Department. COMMUNITY GROUP None OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS Councilwoman Greene made the Council aware that the City Clerk will NOT be responsible for the RSVPS to the MCMA monthly dinners, but the City Clerk will put 3 invitations in each council members box and also reminded the council howi important it ist to respond tot the hosting city. These dinners are expensive and each] hosting city has to pay per person. Councilwoman Greene reminded the council that ify you RSVP that you can attend and something happens, PLEASE have the courtesy to e-mail the hosting city and cancel. MAYOR'S DISCUSSION Mayor Criswell stated that schools are still an issued and we are working toward a solution. We are continuing to work with. Axis on the annexation. New rooftops are Mayor Criswell stated that our money situation from a year ago has improved Jim Teague, ai retiree from Creola, wrote al letter to the Mayor and Council, thanking them for voting on the one-time COLA bonus from the RSA retirement system. Lt. Attorney Mims asked the council with the Citation Code of Alabama 36-25A-7(a)(3) and (a)(1) to go into Executive Session. A motion was: made by Councilwoman Moss for the Council to go: into Executive Session and not reconvene. Seconded by Councilman being added in Creola. significantly- -we! have turned the City around. (RET). Teague stated that it was very much appreciated. Walker, all favored, none opposed. Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT PM. At 6:46PM, the Council went into Executive Session.
