The Council of the City of Creola, Alabama met in the Creola City Hall at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mayor William Criswell. We were led: inj prayer by. John White. The Pledge Roll call was taken by Marcy Brown. Present at the meeting was Lee Ann Green, Harold Martin, Avis Walker, Tonya Moss, and Mayor William Criswell. Kendal Hadaway was absent. Aq quorum was in attendance. Theresa Williams filled in for City Attorney, Danny Mimms. Approval of the Minutes - The minutes oft the September 12, 2019: regular meeting minutes were reviewed. A motion was made by Avis Walker to accept the minutes as written. The motion was of Allegiance was led by Mayor Bill Criswell. seconded by Tonya Moss. All in favor and the motion was carried. Citizens to Address Council- - There were no citizens to address the council. Item #1-LIP Day in the Park- Saturday, November 2, 2019 LIP Day is November 2, 2019. Lemoyne Industrial Park uses the Creola City Park to host its annual LIP Day. Ini return, they present the city with a $5,000 check to be used for the park. Golf carts will need to be rented, public works employees and police officers, including auxiliary officers, will be used. Advance Disposal will provide dumpsters, the park will be sprayed by Kelley's Pest Control, and tents will be put up on October 28 or 29.ADJ will be used, the city will have a 2020 Census table, and the police and Volunteer fire department will bej providing Mrs. Greene made a motion to follow the same guidelines followed for the last several years for LIP Day. Item #2-1 Purple Heart Association - Bob Hileman Bob Hileman from the Purple Heart Association presented the City ofCreola with 4 plaques and/or signs to bej placed on 4 different streets recognizing that the City of Creola is aj purple The City presented a proclamation to Bob Hileman stating that the City of Creola appreciates the sacrifices our Purple Heart recipients made in defending our country and our freedoms, and believes it is important that we acknowledge and honor them for their military service and courage; and, the Creola City Council and Mayor hereby proclaim the City of Creola as a Purple Heart City and encourage all residents tol honor the service and sacrifice of our nation's men and women in uniform who were wounded orl killed by the enemy while serving to heart and veteran city. protect the freedoms enjoyed by all Americans. Department Reports - a. Zoning and Planning - Mrs. Green stated that there were no applications received and the next meeting was October 15,2019. Work session is at 5 pm and meeting at 6 pm. Parks and Rec - The mayor reported that 347 children had been signed up for soccer b. Zoning Board of Adjustments - No report and all was going well. d. Senior Citizens SAIL Center - All is well, nothing new to: report. Mr. Martin had a question regarding the EEP bill and Fire ChiefReeves stated that it was for a repair to one of Mrs. Greene made a motion to approve the finance report and bill list as presented. Ms. Moss seconded the motion. All in favor and motion was carried. Mrs. Greene also read the loan list reflecting the current loans outstanding as well as the fire trucks. loans paid off. Police Dept. - John White requested that the City approve the purchase of qualifying Mr. Walker make the motion to purchase the qualifying ammunition at a cost of $1,240.00. Ms. Moss seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Fire Dept - Fire ChiefJeff Reeves stated that still waiting on parts for the fire truck repair, 3 vehicle collisions, 2 fires, 1 gas leak, 21 tased, 2 false alarms, and 40 h.
