The Council of the City of Creola, Alabama, met in the Creola SAIL Center at 5:30 p.m. A Public Hearing was held before the Council Meeting, from 5:30-6:00pm. Present at the meeting was Mayor Nelson, Wendy Lynch, Cody Chambless, Harold Parmer, Mark Howell, and Marcy Brown, City Clerk. Kendal Hadaway was absent. Mayor Nelson opened the public hearing to the public for comments; however, no one was present. Mayor Nelson closed the public hearing at 6:00 p.m. The regular council meeting was called to order by Mayor Nelson at 6:00 p.m. We were led in prayer by Mr. Bill Chambers. Item #5 -Approval of the Minutes- The minutes of the March 11,2021 meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Mr. Parmer to accept the minutes of March 11, 2021. Sidewalk Grant - Mr. Parmer made a motion to table the sidewalk grant until come clarification is made. Mrs. Lynch seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was Resignation of William Brannon - Mr. Parmer made a motion to accept the resignation of William Brannon. Mr. Howell seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was Mr. Howell made a motion to accept the resignation of building inspector Don Moss. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Mr. Howell made a motion to hire David Moss as the new building inspector as a part time employee at a rate of$1000 per month. Mr. Chambless seconded the motion. All in Firetruck Storage - Fire Chief Moye stated that we could store the firetrucks at the old Eagle Scout Project - Eagle Scout Project, placing arrows, on the disk golf course, indicating where the next tee is. Also, signs were put on the course, with rules. This h. Neal Shaffer and Brown Road = Plans are being made for the paving of Brown Road. Tree Removal Estimates. - Dead water oak at city hall - $650 to drop and move to burn pile. 2 pine trees by railroad track - $300. Water oak in middle of lot-$ $150. Haul these 41 trees to burn pile for $500. Oak beside cul de saç on Diego Drive - $1000 to drop and move to park. Estimates are being gathered for estimates to repair the road at the Rugs at Entry - Mr. Parmer made a motion to get some estimates for entry rugs at the city hall. Mr. Howell seconded the motion. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. All in favor except for Mrs. Lynch who abstained from the vote. Motion was carried. Item #11 Mayors Comments Mayor stated that we submitted Lawshe Ave and South Creola Drive for the CDBG grant for help on paving the roads. $140,000 was budgeted for the pay as you go program for Hurst Road, but Mayor requested that this money be transferred to help with the paving of South Creola Drive and Lawshe Ave. Mayor stated that it would take approximately $15,000 to pour concrete at the terminal. Bids are being gathered. Check was received from Citronelle for the officer leaving before fulfilling his contract. Still negotiating with Satsuma and Saraland.
