The Council of the City of Creola, Alabama, met in the Creola City Hall at 5:32 p.m. A workshop was held before the Council Meeting, from 5:30 pm. Present at the meeting was Wendy Lynch, Kendal Hadaway, Cody Chambless, Harold Parmer, Mark Howell, and Christie Items that were discussed were the consultant for the American Rescue Funds, July 22 meeting date change, business license, state of address, municipal dinner, meeting was adjourned at 5:45 Bryant filled in for City Clerk. Mayor Nelson was absent. p.m. The regular council meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Temp Howell at 6:00 p.m. We were led in prayer by Mr. Carl Walker. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Pro Temp Roll call was taken by Christie Bryant. Present at the meeting was Mayor Pro Temp Howell, Kendal Hadaway, Wendy Lynch, Cody Chambless, Harold Parmer, and Marcy Brown, City Clerk. Mayor Don Nelson was absent. City Attorney Daniel Mims was also absent. Howell. Item #5 -Approval of the Minutes- The minutes of the June 24, 2021, meeting was reviewed. A motion was made by Mr. Hadaway to accept the minutes of. June 24, 2021. The motion was seconded by Mr. Parmer. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #6- Financials/Bill List- The financials were discussed. If anyone would like to see the reports, they are welcome to stop by the city hall. Bank balances were presented. Mr. Chambless made a motion to accept the financials and bill list as presented dated 7/1/21. Mr. Hadaway seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #7 Departmental Reports- Police Dept.- Chief Hammond stated that all is well, and they are just in need of some police Fire Dept. - Mr. Hadaway states they are still running calls. They. just started a medical training class on Tuesday and Thursday for the next 4 weeks and will be a prerequisite for a fire training officers. class for 160 hours. Park Dept. - SAIL Center Dept - Mrs. Lynch stated that they are doing good. the SAIL Center would like to get an antenna sO the seniors could watch local channels and news while there. Mr. Palmer made amotion to purchase a digital antenna at a maximum cost of $100.00 for the SAIL Center. Mrs. Lynch seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Zoning Board - Public Works Department - Mr. Palmer states they are working on cutting grass, but the rain has them held up quite a bit. The John Deere tractor is down and will have to be taking to the shop to fix. Also discussed about hauling the tractor to be fixed, another cleanup day, ift the stop sign was replaced and interviewing 2 potential full-time employees. b. Police department pay range- need more information. seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #8-New Business- Mr. Hadaway made a motion to table until they get more information. Mr. Chambless c.P Police department help- Mr. Palmer states that he would like to see if the county can patrol the night shift until the police department has the proper amount of help. Mr. Palmer made a motion to ask the mayor to talk to the County Sheriff's office about an agreement to patrol during the night shift (6pm-6am) Mr. Chambless seconded the motion. All in favor and d. Grass cut on Hwy 43- Mr. Chambless made a motion to authorize one cut based on the bid of $2000.00 or less in the time frame of the next two weeks. Mrs. Lynch seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #9-Old Business a. Business License- There is a business in Creola that does not have a license. Mr. Palmer made a motion to contact the business to get a license or their contract will be void. Mr. Hadaway seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. b. Removal of tree in right of way on Boboshilly Cir.- Mr. Palmer made a motion to remove the tree for a bid of $1800.00 or less on the ROW on Boboshilly Cir. Mr. Chambless seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Mr. Buddy Lowe addressed the council about the letter he received from the city, and he would like an extension of time to get the project finished due to the excessive amounts of rain we have had. Mr. Lowe asked ifit was an option for him to bring in a dump truck and backhoe to remove the debris from his property. Council stated yes. Mayor Pro Temp extended his time to September 1 to burn the debris if not completed come back to council. Mayor Pro Temp welcomed Mr. Gavin Poole to Creola Police Department. favor and the motion was carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:48 p.m. Mr. Palmer made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
