The Council of the City of Creola, Alabama, met in the Creola Senior building at 5:30 p.m. A workshop was held before the Council Meeting. Item #5 -Approval of the Minutes- Approval of the Minutes - The minutes of the August 12, 2021, regular meeting minutes were reviewed. Departmental Reports - Police Dept. Chief Hammond states that the jail needs painted. Mr. Howell made a motion to approve the estimate, $2,000.00, for the painting of the jail, which includes two coats of paint to all areas painted with the work being done by Frank Boles. Mr. Hadaway second the motion. All in favor Fire Dept. - Fire Chief Moye presented a quote from NAFECO for forestry hoses and adapters in the amount of $1179.00. Mr. Hadaway made a motion to approve the spending of $1179.00 from the fire grant funds for the purchase of forestry hoses and adapters. Mr. Parmer seconded Fire Chief Moye presented a quote from SemsFire for the testing of the hoses and ladders in the amount of $2791.00. Mr. Hadaway made a motion to approve the spending of $2791.00 from the general fund for the testing of all hoses and ladders. Mr. Howell seconded the motion. All in Mr. Hadaway made a motion to send Fire Chief Moye to the upcoming fire training once the dates have been finalized. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. Bay Area Contracting - Mr. Howell made a motion to use Rebuild Alabama Diesel and Gas fund to hire Bay Area Contracting for the paving of Brown Road and set a cap at Roll Call: Cody Chambless - Absent; Wendy Lynch = Absent; Kendal Hadaway - YES; Harold Parmer - Yes; Mark Howell - YES; Mayor Nelson YES. Dispatchers and Officers- Chief Hammond stated that he will be hiring 2 dispatches and e.A American Rescue Act one time pay increase- Mayor presented Resolution 2021-0004 for the council to review and discuss a one time pay increase for all essential workers. Mr. Hadaway stated that he would like to see all full-time employees that have been employed for more than a year to receive $5,000.00 and part-time employees with more than a year $2500.00. All other full-time and part-time employees with less than a year of employment would receive $2500/00. Changes will be made to the resolution and brought back for f.2021-2022 Budget Prep- The finance committee will begin work on the new budget once g.
