MAGISTRATES Linda Hoiles Christie Bryant Minutes of the City of Creola Council Meeting Thursday, March 28, 2024 Creola City Hall Meeting 6:00 P.M. The regular council meeting was called to order by Mayor Don Nelson at 6:00 p.m. We were led inj prayer by. James Brown. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Nelson. Roll call was taken by City Clerk Marcy Brown. Present at the meeting was Mark Howell, Kendal Hadaway, Harold Parmar, and Mayor Nelson. Council members Cody Chambless and Wendy Lynch were absent. City Attorney Danny Mims was also present. Item #5 -Approval of the Minutes - The minutes oft the March 14, 2024, meeting was reviewed. Mr. Parmer made a motion to accept the minutes of March 14, 2024; Mr. Howell seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #6- Financials/Bill List- The bills were discussed. Mr. Howell made a motion to accept the bill list for March 27, 2024, as presented. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. The financials were discussed. If anyone would like to see the reports, they are welcome to stop by the city hall. Bank balances were presented. Mr. Howell made a motion to accept the financials as presented for March 27, 2024. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried. Item #7 - Departmental Reports - Police Dept.- Chief Stringer stated that the click it or tick it grant was going well. We had an officer that lost a body camera, and it will cost $6500 to replace and that we were looking at a Fire Dept. - Chief Stanley stated that he has completed 12 safety meetings and new employee's orientation meetings. The state bid list has a Ford F250 4WD gas truck, but a diesel is desired. The cost is $48,700 with an additional $9,300 for a diesel. The cost would be approximately $70,000 for a Ford diesel. Chie Stanley also stated that two (2) air packs are needed at a cost of Mr. Parmer made a motion to purchase two (2) air packs are needed at a cost of $3625 each plus four (4) cylinders for $$4,000. Item #9 Mayor comments Mayor Nelson stated that the socçer dedication went well, and Fox 10 was there and did a wonderful job in their coverage of the event. The clean-up day was a successful event and about 20 large bags of trash were picked up. Mayor Nelson also stated that the GOMESA grant had been submitted. Alabama Power was: studying the lighting at Magnolia Court and Oak Lawn. Mr. Howell made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Parmer seconded the motion. All in favor and the motion was carried.
