REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING CITY OF COLUMBIANA, ALABAMA June 18, 2024 The City Council of the City of Columbiana, Alabama met in a Regular Session in the Council Chambers of Columbiana City Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Mayor David Mitchell called the meeting to order and asked City Clerk, Charlene Tucker, to call roll after the invocation and pledge. Consent Agenda A. Approval of Minutes 6-4-24 Regular Council Meeting B. Approval of Minutes 6-11-24 Special Called Council Meeting There being no changes or amendments to the minutes, the Mayor declared the minutes approved. Department Head Reports Police - Jeff Bowers reported the following: We have no on the job injuries. Staffing is full. We are currently on course with our 2024 budget. All vehicles are in good working order. All equipment is in good working order. Training is underway. Cops & Cookies July 11th, 18h & 25hatt the Library. Popsicles with Police July 3151. July 24 - Active shooter training at Shelby County High School. August - Public safety day. Summer is here! Please be aware of children playing. Administration - Charlene Tucker reported the following: No reports of safety issues. YTD revenues and expenses are on track. Fully staffed with three full time and one part time employee. No repairs are needed at City Hall at this time. Training is up to date. Court-1 Mike Atchison reported the following: Next Court is. June 25, 2024. Driving school will be. July 17,2024. Jails costs year to date looks good. Judge Atchison and Prosecutor Simmons have training in October. Follow up on resolution for Deferred Prosecution. Mike will work on this. Public Works - Allen Reynolds reported the following: No injuries at this time. Current budget is on track. remove water from the building. Still working on grading at new public works building and new roof drain will be installed to Board Reports The Water Board had a regular business meeting. They will be replacing water lines on Fire Tower Road. Johnny Farr's term on the board expires July 19 and we will need to vote on a replacement. The Planning Commission held a public hearing for rezoning applications. These applications were initiated by the City for properties with No Zoning along Highway 25. All of the applications passed Lamar Vick is the new chairperson. and there will be another public hearing at the July 16 council meeting. Mayor Mitchell introduced: RESOLUTION 06-24-02 RESOLUTION FOR ABCLICENSE FOR COLUMBIANA VENTURE LLC WHEREAS, the City of Columbiana has received an application from COLUMBIANA VENTURE LLC DBA SHOP N GO2, through the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board requesting an 050 - Retail Beer (Off Premises Only) and 070 - Retail Table Wine (Off Premises Only) Liquor WHEREAS, the City of Columbiana recognizes that this business has complied with the Alcohol License Application; and requirements ofthe State of Alabama to obtain such licenses; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City ofColumbiana that the City Council ofthe City of Columbiana does hereby grant the request and charge the City Clerk with providing a letter to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board indicating their approval oft the license request.
