MINUTES OF THE: MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCILOF THE CITY OF ARAB, ALABAMA MARCH 4, 2024 The City Council oft the City of Arab, Alabama, met in regular session at 6:00 p.m. fori its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 4, 2024, in Arab City Hall, thet time and place previously scheduled Mayor Bob Joslin called the meeting to order. Uponi roll call, the following answered present: fors such meeting. MIKE ALLEN JOHNNY: HART ALANI MILLER MITCH STONE MARKGULLION Also present were. Denise Williams (City Clerk), Katie Jones (Administrative Assistant), Rodney Edmondson (City. Attorney), city department heads, representatives oft the media, and thej public. Mayor Joslin declared a quorum present and opened the meeting for the transaction of business. Council Member Stonel led thej pledge of allegiance. Thei invocation was given by Council Member Gullion. The minutes of the February 20, 2024, regular meeting was approved by unanimous vote upon a Mayor. Joslin reminded the Council of reports made in the work session and then moved on toa few other staff reports. Police Chief Shane Washburn gave an update on several recent happenings. Assistant Fire Chief Michael IIall reminded citizens of changing batteries & testing smoke detectors next week with thet time change. Jeremiah Yates with the Street Department reported on recent street work. With no other staff reports o1 old business, the Mayor then moved to the first item of new business, a Resolution to Approve Amending Signatories on Cadence Bank Account. Council Member Allen moved to suspend the reading, Council Member Miller seconded and all voted yes. Council Member Hart moved to suspend the Rules, Council Member Allen seconded and all voted yes. The Mayor then moved to the third item of new business, a Resolution to Approve Amending Signatories on Peoples Bank Account. Rodney Willingham, Chairman of Planning Commission spoke requesting on behalf of the Planning Commission that the Council make a request to the. Alcohol License Review Committee to evaluate thel license fee being charged by the city in connection with other cities / county charges to ensure the City isi inl line with the same. Jeremy King then spoke giving his opinion regarding the landfill.
