SPECIAL SESSION MAY: 15,2024 The Thorndale City Council met in Special Session on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the meeting room of City Hall, 105 North Main Street, Thorndale, Texas. Present- Absent- 1. Call to Order Mayor- George Galbreath Jr. Council -J Jared Melde, Wayne Green, Michael Becker Employees -Ray Miller, Stacy Irwin Council - Steven Zuehlke, Marla Davis Mayor Galbreath called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Galbreath. 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Discussion and action to Canvass and Certify the May 4, 2024 General Election Council reviewed the results from the May 6th Election. The tabulations are as follows: Results. For Council: Candidate Shanta M. Kuhl Steven Zuehlke Sam Pickett Wayne Green Absentee Voting Early Voting Election Day Total 67 59 35 48 3 2 2 1 106 92 42 75 176 153 79 124 For Legal sale of mixed beverages: Candidate For Against Absentee Voting Early Voting Election Day Total 83 14 4 0 122 15 209 29 Councilman Becker made the motion to approve and certify the election results declaring Shanta M. Kuhl, Steven Zuehlke and Wayne Green as council members and to legalize the sale of mixed beverages. Motion was seconded by Councilman Green and carried, 2-0. COUNCILMAN MELDE ENTERED THE MEETING. 4. Issue Certificates of Election to Newly-Elected Officers. Mayor Galbreath issued the certificates to the officers. 5. Issue Statement of Officer for signatures to Newly-Elected Officers. City Secretary Irwin issued the Statement of Officer for signatures which remains with the City for official records. Following the reading and signing of the statements, all were returned to Secretary Irwin. 6. Administer Oath of Office to Newly-Elected Officers. Texas Local Government Code 22.036 requires the Newly elected officials of a Type A Municipality meet at the usual meeting place to be installed. City Secretary Irwin administered the oath to Councilwoman Kuhl and Councilman Green. 7. Discussion and action to appoint and approve a Mayor Pro-Tem by Resolution Mayor Galbreath recommended Councilman Wayne Green serve as Mayor Pro-Tem. Councilman Melde made the motion to approve Councilman Wayne Green as Mayor Pro-Tem. Motion was: seconded by Councilman Becker and carried, 3-0. 8. Issue Council Committee Appointments by Mayor George Galbreath. Jr. Mayor Galbreath issued the committee appointments to the council. The appointments 24-07. are as follows: Michael Becker Drainage Police Department Training and Safety Building Maintenance Jared Melde Municipal Judge Fire Department/EMS Street Maintenance Budget Shanta M. Kuhl Beautification Waste Disposal Insurance Cemetery Steven Zuehlke Budget Police Department Public Utilities, Parks, Recreation Water Supply and Distribution Wayne Green Accounting TEDC Vehicle Maintenance Wastewater Collection & Treatment With no further business, Mayor Galbreath declared the meeting adjourned at 5:39 p.m. Approved Junela,a0a4 George Galbreath.
