Halifax County Electoral Board January 22, 2024 The Halifax County Electoral Board met on January 22, 2024 in the Registrar's office in Halifax, Virginia. The meeting was called to order at 11:13 a.m. by the Chair, Paul Smith, with all members present. There was no public comment. The chair called for the minutes from thej previous meeting. The minutes from the previous meeting on January 17, 2024 were read and approved. Vice Chair Matthew Cunningham motioned to approve the minutes as read and Chairman Paul Smith seconded. The motion passed. The chair called for old business. There was some discussion regarding relocating the Black Walnut Precinct and Registrar Heather Harding stated that Otis who works for the County was getting some measurements. There was also some discussion regarding the issue of the American Legion Post99, and the Commander Frank Carr requesting compensation for use of the building for the Sinai Precinct. This discussion was tabled for a later date. The chair called for new business. The new business at hand was scheduling the dates for training of election workers for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary. The dates scheduled are as follows: February 20 and 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., February 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., February 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and March 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The date for performing the L & A on all voting machines for the Presidential Primary Election is scheduled for February 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. With no further business at hand, Vice Chairman Matthew Cunningham motioned to adjourn the meeting and Chairman Paul Smith seconded. The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 11:55 a. m.
