City Council Work Session Minutes Jacksonville, Alabama December 4, 2023  The Council oft the City ofJ Jacksonville, Alabama, met on December 4, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Municipal Court Room oft the Public Safety Complex, 911 Public Safety Drive SW, Jacksonville, Alabama for a Regular Work Session. Council President Tony Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The following Council Members were present: Coty Galloway, Andrew Green, Sherry Laster, and Terry Wilson. Mayor Johnny Smith, City Attorney Richard Rhea, City Administrator Albertha Grant, and City Clerk Brenda Long were present.  ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES. No changes to minutes.  DELTA ZETA DONATION PRESENTATION. Jacksonville State University Chapter of Delta Zeta presented the Eastwood Community Foundation with a check for $500.00. These GOVERNMENT DAY PROGRAM-JASON SUMNER. Anaya Scruggs, Senior at Jacksonville High School, gave the Council a presentation on the idea of partnering with the City on a Government Day Out Program. Would like to simulate an election, arrests, court, and have the students who are elected to certain positions, shadow City Officials for a day. Pending dates are April 9, 2024, to attend the Council Meeting and April 11, 2024 for the mock Government Day event. Council Member Green suggested adding the City Administrator position to the positions for electing and shadowing. City Attorney Richard Rhea agreed to allow the mock attorneys to shadow him. Council President Taylor suggested  funds came from the scarecrow fundraiser on the Square.  possibly having a Council Meeting at the school.  ANY OTHER BUSINESS.  Tim Smith with Municipal Technologies: Presented the Council with their Sth Gen  iPAD Air and gave instructions on set up.
