City Council Work Session Minutes Jacksonville, Alabama October9,2023  The Council of the City of. Jacksonville, Alabama, met on October 9, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the Municipal Court Room oft the Public Safety Complex, 911 Public Safety Drive SW, Jacksonville, Alabama for a Regular Work Session. Council President Tony Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The following Council Members were present: Coty Galloway, Andrew Green, Sherry Laster, and Terry Wilson. Mayor. Johnny Smith, City Attorney Richard Rhea, City Administrator Albertha Grant, and City Clerk Brenda Long were present.  ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES. No changes to minutes.  JACKSONVILLE SOUARE MERCHANTS- LAURA HUMPHREYS. Spoke regarding AVery Square-y Halloween Party and requested assistance with candy for the kids due to the 2024COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULE. Reviewed the schedule of dates for the upcoming 2024 year. Changed May 2024 dates from the second and fourth Monday to the first and third Monday and changed November 11,2024 to November 12, 2024 due to holiday Council Member Galloway suggested changing the times of the meetings. Options given are  high volume of people interested in the event. Council agrees to help.  conflicts. as follows:  1. Keep as is.  2. Work Session to begin at 6:00 p.m. with Council Meeting immediately following the Work Session - Council President Taylor is concerned about the guests who do our invocation and may be there for the pledge and/or roclamationsicogrtion: 3. Work Session to begin at 6:00 p.m. and Council Meeting to begin at 6:30 p.m. 4. Placing the Work Session as an item on the Council Meeting Agenda - This would allow the invocation, pledge, and roclamatonsicogritons to happen at the beginning of the meeting, followed by the Work Session and then moving right  not having a set time to arrive.  into the business oft the meeting.  Council will have this brought back to the October 23, 2023 meeting for discussion. CHRISTMAS PARADE, NOVEMBER 30, 2023. Mayor Smith asked the Council how they wanted to ride in the parade so his office could notify Rita Edwards. The Council agrees to 2024WEATHERI FREPAREDNESSTAXHOLDAVTERUARY7375-.024  ride together with a truck and trailer while the Mayor rides alone.  Council agreed to participate. Council Member Wilson: Asked for an update on the. Jacksonville High School baseball field project with the Board of Education. Mayor Smith presented the Council with the two options for land the agreement would cover. The Council agrees to keep the amount ofl land as it has always been. Will address extra Council Member Wilson: Requested a weekly update on things going on in the Council Member Laster: Gave an update on the Student Government Association meeting at. JSU. Very informational and excited to see SO many  areai ifthel BOE ever wants to do any expanding.  City.  wanting to volunteer.  ADJOURNMENT.
