INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Perkins, called thei meeting to order at 5:30j p.m. Councilmember Martin Dates led invocation and LTI Roper led the Pledge of Allegiance. RECORD OF ATTENDANCE The following elected officials were present: Mayor Theoangelo Perkins Councilmember Janet Gill Councilmember Martin Dates Councilmember William Carter Councilmember Beverly Johnson Councilmember Shelia Rich Mayor Perkins, stated a quorum oft the Town Council was present. APPROVALOF TOWN COUNCIL AGENDA Councilmember Gill made a motion to approve the Town Council Agenda with the addition of Resolution 2024-05-20-03 for May 20, 2024. Councilmember Dates seconded the motion. Mayor Perkins, declared motion passed unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Councilmember Gill made a motion to approve regular council meeting minutes from May 6, 2024. Councilmember Rich seconded thei motion. Mayor Perkins, declared motion passed unanimously. APPROVALOF INVOICES The Town Clerk/Treasurer presented the invoices. Councilmember Rich: made ai motion to approve all invoices as submitted. Councilmember Johnson seconded the motion. The motion passed by voice vote with Councilmember Gill abstaining. Mayor Perkins, declared motion passed PUBLIC HEARING -] None PROCLAMATIONS BY THE MAYOR - None REQUESTSTO ADDRESS' THE COUNCIL - None DEPARTMENT AND COMMITTEE REPORTS: Library: Marsha Moore presented the Library report from April 2024. She also announced Police: Police Reports we provided and LT Roper was present to answer any questions. Summer Ready is scheduled for. June 29th at thel Harpersville Library Councilmember Dates requested the department increase patrol on Highway 62. Court: Court Reports were provided in the Council packets OLD BUSINESS/RESOLUTIONS/ORDINANCES/ORDERS and OTHER BUSINESS- 1. Resolution 2024-05-20-01 - Approval tol hire candidate for street department vacancy Councilmember Rich made a motion to approve Resolution 2024-05-20-01 to hire William Carden. Councilmember Dates seconded the motion. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Mayor Perkins declared the same 2. Resolution 2024-05-20-03 - Approval to purchase two police vehicles from the City of Vincent Councilmember Carter made a motion to approve Resolution 2024-05-20-03. Councilmember Gill seconded the motion. Thei motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Mayor Perkins declared the same NEW ISNESS/NESOLITOASIONS/ORDNANCIS/ORDERS and OTHER BUSINESS 3. Resolution 2024-05-20-02-1 Project Resolution Requested by ALDOT. Councilmember Gill made ai motion toj pass Resolution 2024-05-20-02. Councilmember Dates seconded the motion. The: motion passed by unanimous voice vote. Mayor Perkins declared the same COUNCIL AND PUBLIC COMMENTS- 1. Councilmember Gill gave an update oni maintenance at the Police Department. She stated she wanted to allow time to decide on the projects at the Community Center and once that isi final the Council will move on toi reviewing bids for the Police Department maintenance. 2 2. Mayor Perkins, Councilmember Carter, and Councilmember Dates attended the 2024. ALM conference in Huntsville, AL: last week. Each member shared their experience and takeaways from the conference. Executive Session: Mayor Perkins read a letter from the Town attorney, attached hereto. Councilmember Gill made a motion to enter into executive session. Councilmember Dates Seconded the motion. By voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. Meeting recessed into executive session at 5:53 pm. Council Member Gill made ai motion to enter back into regular session. Councilmember Dates seconded the motion. By voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. Meeting resumed at 6:09 pm. PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENIS 1. The next meeting of the Harpersville Town Council will be held at The Harpersville Community Center with a Work Session on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 5:00pm., with the regular Council 2. The next meeting oft the Harpersville Water Board will be held at the Harpersville Community Center with a Work Session on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 4:30p.m., with a regular board meeting 3. The: next meeting of the Harpersville Planning and Zoning Board following tonight will be held at' The Harpersville Community Center on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 6:15p.m. meeting to follow at 5:30 p.m. tof follow at 5:00 p.m. ADJOURNMENT With no other business before the council, Councilmember Gill moved to adjourn the council meeting and Councilmember Dates seconded thei motion.
