Florida Commerce Committee Planning Technical Assistance Grant - presented by Allara Mills Gutcher and Allison A power point was presented by Ms. Gutcher and she explained that this grant was written bya a previous planning and zoning member and submitted to the state. This grant was awarded last September. The process began of getting agreements signed in January 2024. The first vision session was held in February 2024. The deliverables that were presented were: Project Overview Visioning Workshop Existing Conditions Sidewalk Plan Building, Parking and Economic Development Analysis Economic Development Strategies She asked the board to review what is presented before them tonight and make any recommendations to be Ms. Gutcher presented the vision statement as a result oft the February 5, 2024 Workshop. Mr. Ellzey opened up for public comments. Lisa Logan, Mexico Beach, stated as far as her opinion goes, she did not agree with thet first line of the vision: statement, "we aspire to be" and feels like "we aspire" needs to be a strike through and state "we are" instead.. Julie Gardner at the table stated the second line oft the vision statement needed to be amended if the first line of the statement was going to be amended. Mr. Cox agreed that Mexico Beach is a tight knit community, but also believes that the city is striving to be more vibrant and economically diverse. Mr. Kries also agreed with the change. Mr. Ellzey asked ift there was a motion to recommend the change of the vision statement. Ms. Gardner motioned to strike out' "aspire to be" in first line of statement and change to "we are" and strike out "we strive" in the second line of statement and recommend changing to "we continue to strive".
