Hancock Street (Dave's Welders Supplies). Background: On. January 20, 2022, Ed Ladd, with Dave's Welders Supplies, submitted a written request for the City Council to abandon the unnamed and unimproved alley that extends through the property located at 235 S. Hancock Street. The alley exists only on paper - it was never actually constructed and utilized by any adjoining property owners. Dave's Welders Supplies owns the property on both sides of the alley. Staff Comments: 1. A map illustrating the location of the unnamed and unimproved alley proposed for abandonment is 2. The requested abandonment includes the portion of the alley located adjacent to the property owned by Dave's Welders Supplies only. The 15-wide alley extends between Leak Street and E. Broad Avenue as recommended by City staff. 9 NORTH CAROLINA RICHMOND COUNTY RESOLUTION RESOLUTION CLOSING AN UNIMPROVED, UNNAMED ALLEY RIGHT-OF-WAY EXTENDING WHEREAS, on the gth day of February, 2022, the City Council oft the City of Rockingham directed A F RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE ROCKINGHAM CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER THE ABANDONMENT OF THE UNIMPROVED 15-FOOT WIDE ALLEY WHEREAS, the City Council, on the gth day of February 2022, ordered the City Clerk to send written notification to all persons owning property abutting on the undeveloped alley to be closed WHEREAS, the City Clerk has advised the City Council that a notice was sent to each of the said abutting property owners, advising them of the day, time and place of meeting, and that the question as tot the closing of said portion of the undeveloped alley hereinafter described would be acted upon; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has advised the City Council that none of the letters sO sent have been WHEREAS, after full and complete consideration oft the matter, and after having granted full and complete opportunity for all interested persons to appear and register any objections that they might WHEREAS, it now appears to the satisfaction of the City Council that the closing of said portion of the undeveloped alley is not contrary to the public interest and that no individual owning property, either abutting said portion of the undeveloped ally or in the vicinity of said portion of the undeveloped alley will as a result of said closing be thereby deprived of reasonable means of ingress and egress to his BETWEEN LEAK STREET AND E. Friday, February 25th. Youth Basketball - Our 2022 season came to a conclusion last week with championship games on Indoor Soccer - We had 130 children register to participate int this new program. Pre-season clinics have been completed with practices beginning March 1st and regular season play starting March7th. Spring Soccer- = Registration is underway for this well established program. (Deadline is March: 17t) concludes Friday, March 25th. Youth Baseball/Softball - Registration for these two programs begins on Monday, March: 14thand Hinson Lake - As the spring and summer months approach activities and reservations for this facility increase substantially. Hinson Lake has, and will continue, to offer a nice diversification to our recreational offerings. March is always at transitional month for our department. Weather will remain a variable, but through the years, our maintenance staff has employed various maintenance strategies to make the process as seamless as possible.
